they are afraid people won’t vote for a gay guy. It’s pretty much that simple

Does the media explicitly talk about his (or Bernies or Warrens or Bidens or Klobuchars) heterosexuality as a defining characteristic?

I dont think its a big deal, and I certainly dont think it is part of some media push to get Buttigieg the nomination.

Wait until he starts planting big wet sloppy kisses on stage after his next victory. They will embrace and promote it like they did with Romney's Mormonism

I have to admit that I find it extremely odd that they have given very little attention to the fact that the first openly gay presidential candidate just won the first state primary and is leading in New Hampshire. What's their reason? Nervous that the deep south democrats aren't a fan of homosexuality?

He cannot win if he runs on a platform of becoming the first gay president. The media knows this.

Gay not defining characteristic
Half black defining characteristic

Is that correct?

Oh, they absolutely celebrated it at first. Once the black voters started to vocally express negative views (and then follow through with polling votes) the media began moving away from mentioning it. I think a pretty big nail in that coffin was the recent Iowa caucaser who pulled her vote for Buttigieg once she found out Mayor Pete was gay. LINK

They aren’t the first heterosexuals to win a caucus for a major political party.

The Democrats are the party of “groups” and “labels”.

The fact that this label isn’t being touted is because it is likely purposefully being downplayed.

The DNC and MSN know that Buttgieg’s sexuality has the potential to lose him votes.

This isn’t a criticism of Buttgieg at all. It is simply a current political reality and probably the appropriate political strategy.

There is NO WAY the people will allow a "First Gentleman" fill the FLOTUS role when compared to the current FLOTUS.

Your premise is stupid. You say the MSM is covering up his sexuality when in fact the guy has been out in the open about it for years. There is no story here because he is openly gay and married to a dude. So the media isn't covering up anything. Anyone who wants to know anything about Buttigeig knows this already.

Jesus H. Christ

It seems like they are trying to cover it up because they know it hurts his chances

And Dems are afraid of the same. Any other time (see Hillary in 2016), they will use anything to their marketing advantage “first woman”, etc.

I heard a Dem analyst make a very good point yesterday.
He said the modern Dem voter requires the candidate to have at least one box checked 'oppression.'
The old oppression appeal was 'I was born a poor sharecropper's son'. But all the candidates now are born middle to upper class. So you have to have to be:
black
female
gay
Hispanic

Pete only checks the 'gay' box so he touts in his speeches. He doesn't say 'Hey, I'm gay.' He says 'I grew up being rejected and unloved.'

The analyst said this is Biden's problem with the Dem voters. He's an old white male from an upper middle class family. He checks none of the boxes.

Because talking about it any more would be stupid.

Pete did a good job ripping off that band aid early on, it was covered and discussed. I dont think there is an agenda with this one.

And, given the bullshite that just happened in Iowa, I could see why media outlets arent jumping on anyone as a winner.

I just don't see it that way, but I'll be looking out for it.

Well that analyst is an idiot. Biden is just a walking failure. He should've walked away with this thing. He is the one candidate that can get all the Dems on board. Some dont want a socialist. Some won't vote for a gay man.

All he had to do was be kinda ok, but he has been a joke of a candidate. It was on a silver platter
