And most of the shots were rom the outside. 40% from three. Vandy was on fire.

And when you defend the perimeter you open up the lane for their talented guards like Lee to penetrate.

The Tigers better fix this because this is how Auburn plays.

Another thing Vandy only had 8 turnovers.

I hate this line of thinking personally. “They were hot.” “They were on fire.” We have said that a lot about our opponents this year; we’ve just come out on top more often then not. I believe a team gets hot because you allow them to with lazy defense. They don’t just randomly get hot. We were lazy tonight and never woke up. Simple as that.

Not hard to do when your opponent isn’t allowed to guard you.

We could not guard Lee’s penetration. He was too quick. That’s part of the reason Mays got in foul trouble. It makes it extremely difficult to guard the three if they dribble around you.

That is a weakness on this team. It was just exposed tonight due to a Vandy’s great shooting.

They can drive all night but you stop the 3 regardless. Get in their jock.

The three was open because LSU stayed in a zone for most of the game. All Vandy was doing was driving, kicking, and swinging the ball around the perimeter for the open three.

Like boxing it's all about matchups. They beat us off the dribble and exposed our lack of depth . Add to that they shot lights out and these games happen. Crying won't change things.

Once Manning gets back we will be better suited to defend the paint. Foul trouble dictated our play. But credit to Vandy. Sometimes the other team is better on a given night.

99 fricking points to the worst team in the Conference? Team should have never got on the plane.

See I tend to think the opposite: give them all the 3pt shots they want but defend your paint.

We did neither.

That's an accurate observation. It's like they were caught believing, "Hey, we're 8-0 and they haven't beaten us or anyone in forever. We're destined to win, anyway, so why worry?" I really believe the team needed this as a wake up call. Luck only lasts a short while.

And we were consistently late to rotate to the ball.
Viola! Open looks.

That, right there, is what makes this so disappointing. You should not lose to an 8-13 team, who is winless in 26 straight conference games. But in basketball you can get cold and lose. To lose to a team who is that bad, however, because you gave up almost 100 points, is truly an embarrassing performance.

That CANNOT happen. If you had told me Vandy would score 75, before the game, I'd have said that would be very disappointing. I just can't imagine how any team could possibly care so little about playing any defense.

And Auburn will eat this team alive if they don’t reverse course and quick.

We need Manning. He’s our best wing defender should be back in some weeks

this happens in basketball more tha any other sport Adt can make the difference in a close game. But it is a horrible excuse for losing to a team the OU shouldn’t have had a close game with. I suspect that the team looked at Vanderbilt and thought they could just coast to a win. To paraphrase another poster, they they thought “we’re 8-0 and this is Vanderbilt”.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I did not see the game. I’ve been concerned that LSUs lack of size will impact them at some point. Wat ord and Cooper at 6’9” and everyone else 6’6” or shorter. Can someone tell me if that played a part or was it just poor execution?

Anytime Skylar has been out of the game this year, i feel like we struggle getting the ball up the court, running an the offense and sometimes we fail to get a shot off. This is the first game i remember he was in foul trouble. We need someone to step up when our Mays is out IMO.

No. Interior size was not an issue. In fact, we dominated the interior.

We just couldn't guard the Vandy guards. Too much penetration, and then when we did collapse, slow to rotate and they hit their 3s.

It was a clinic on how to lose to inferior teams.

Thanks for that. Curious your thoughts on our size. Do you think the lack of size may bite us, particularly in tournament play? Size doesn’t seem to have the impact it once did in the modern game.
