Listening to Brietbart this morning on the way to work, they mentioned Democrats moving from California to Texas. Mentioned Austin once being red and now it’s blue. They also said that it’s very possible Trump only wins Texas by 10 or fewer points.

This got me thinking, if Democrats leave a democrat controlled crap hole for greener pastures, why do they continue to vote Dem? Kinda scary to think that if the republicans ever lose Texas, the presidency would be really hard to win.

The Democrats are like a plague. They move in, destroy the area, then move to the next place and make it a crap hole. Republicans need to learn to mobilize their base and get all conservatives to the polls and vote.

The democrats want gun control and to limit oil production. They can not win Texas with their platform. The people moving to Texas are leaving California because they are sick of democratic policies. 100 years from now the media will still be saying Texas is about to turn blue.

Austin is the state capital, like most state capitals they have a lot of government employees who are democrats for job security. Austin was blue long before the Cali influx.

quote:

"We've done some pretty in-depth look at people who are moving into the state," he revealed. "I'll give an example — Ted Cruz won by more [in the 2018 midterm election against former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas] with new voters into Texas than he did with voters who had been in Texas for their entire lives."

quote:

"What we find is that in that first election, they cast a vote in, yes, they tend to be a little more Democratic than they do Republican," he continued. "But the next election, and as they vote more and more, they become more Republican... we do find that after three to four elections, as people move in the state, they are highly more likely to be Republican than they are Democrat."

Article explaining things aren’t so bleak and Beta was likely a one off.

Very similar to illegals. The only difference is that illegals actually work

Same reason they cling to socialist principles when they are proven to fail time after time... it works... just they have to be the ones who do it.

It's naive, idealistic ignorance, and total lack of self-awareness.

Like everyone else, they don't want to live in a shithole, so if they make enough money to get out, they do.
But they are oblivious to the fact that it was their stated and preferred policies that made the last place a shithole.

I mean, the analogy is simple- if I love burning scented candles in every room of my house, and the house burns down, I won't light candles in the next house and then leave them unattended.
Apparently, these are the people who do.

I don't think so, It was a leftist paradise a decade ago, don't think much has changed. It's a typical college town

Immigration from outside of the country is the only reason states are turning blue. Without immigration our country would still be ours and would be firmly red, the way God intended.

The issue for Texas isn't incoming California Dems. The Texas GOP has lagged behind in engaging blacks, hispanics and college educated suburban women. All of those groups are expanding extremely fast. If Texas republicans engaged with them at even the national level, it would be a lot less competitive for the Dems. Greg Abbott is one of the most effective statewide republicans in that regard, and that is why his election was never in doubt, even as Cruz struggled mightily against Beta

What's lost in this are the blue states that turned red in the 2016 election.. Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin..and Trump only losing the very liberal Minnesota by 1.5%..

Sounds about right, he won Texas by 9 in 2016.

Not to say that TX will never turn blue or purple, but it won't happen in my lifetime. TX just had a special election last week in SW Houston. The district voted for Hillary in 2016. All of the democratic candidates campaigned for the dem candidate. Beto basically lived in SW Houston for 3 weeks stumping for the Dem candidate. The House seat went Republican by the largest margin of victory for a special election in TX history. I think it is wishful thinking on many democrats at this point.

People always do this. They move because of hardship and opportunity for a better life and then they constantly talk about how great it was back home. This was evident in the immigrants to the US in the early 20th Century. Everything back home is better, the food, beer, people. But why move if it was so much better?

I think young dumb asses and women voters are more problematic for Republicans than state to state migration.

Colorado is getting deeper blue and won't be back to purple much less red in my lifetime. There's enough migration into SLC and Boise to break their respective locks if it continues. I suspect Arizona will go purple before UT or ID though.
