I’m not sure why this isn’t brought up more. Burrow said he worked hard on his footwork in the off season.

We hope. He didn’t put on headsets on sideline until someone asked O about it halfway thru the season. Makes you wonder how much attention he was getting and/or paying

Myles Brennan learned what it takes to be a championship QB.

Brennan saw what it takes, we will see if he learned what it takes next season. He could have 15 tests to prove what he learned. I hope he aces those tests. I'm bullish on the Tigers next year.

He also said that he was trying to get back to the footwork skills he had in high school. And that in the 3 years on the bench at Ohio State he had lost a lot of the game speed footwork that he had once prided himself on.

Burrow had access to first-rate QB coaching throughout his childhood and teen years. He grew up on college practice fields.

At the point where 4 of your 5 lineman are behind you... I would say that doesn’t constitute a pocket.

The 2 "Heisman moment" passes to Jefferson come to mind. Burrow wasn't in the pocket for either of those.

Joe is at home in the pocket. But also has no problem with scrambling.

Unless you have first hand knowledge of this, STFU.

Everybody brings up the obvious improvements he made from the 2018 to the 2019 season. We need to remember that he was only on campus for 3 months before the beginning of that season & more importantly he had not started for 3 years. He had only thrown about 45 passes at Ohio State in games. So, the improvement he made was an accumulation of beginning in Jan 2019 & working every week before spring ball & continuing after spring ball till summer practice began. The last three games of 2018 were a vast improvement over most of 2018 games.

Which is why in games he never looks flustered, confused, or frustrated.

He never got out of the pocket. He stepped up and threw while being twisted to the ground by a delayed blitzing defender.

He stepped through the pocket but yes, we are arguing semantics at this point. I don’t consider being in the “tackle box” (which is what you’re talking about) the same as throwing from a pocket if the pocket has broken down and the QB has stepped through it.

Okay fair enough.

I was just trying to prove your point him throwing off his back foot was not due to his footwork but was the only means to get the ball out.

Getting held up on that small detail doesn’t really matter lol

We can hope it’s for the same reasons Joe was dubbed BDJ.
