Roberts said he's not breaking ties. i.e. 50/50 motions fail--as most of us have been stating for a few days, but some have disputed.

chuckles asked roberts if he was aware 150 years ago in an impeachment the CJ broke two tie votes
roberts cut him off at the knees saying in both of those cases it was about procedural issues and not any actual factual issues votes and he wasnt about to use that as an excuse to intervene where he had no place to and any tie vote equals failure

It just happened in the Senate chamber.

Good to see John Roberts understand and respect the fact that he has no constitutional right to cast a vote in the United States Senate.

I think Roberts doesn't like Schumer giving him Supreme Court history lessons like he doesn't know anything.

Schumer is an arrogant, stupid, SOB.
I just saw that clip while catching up on the full C-SPAN video. The way Schumer says to Roberts - "Are you aware" (like the CJ of the SC wouldn't know his history on this?), and then Schumer just gives the two examples and dates of tie breaking in the Johnson case, w/o context.
Then Roberts slaps him down by stating they were votes to adjourn and to close deliberations - this is not a general authority to break ties. Put Chucky in his place!
So typical of the Dems, to take something out of context and treat it so very different than it is in context. Shmucks.

Yes he kicked Schumer’s arse.
And I was wondering what Roberts was thinking when Schiff kept repeating that Roberts could decide on witnesses....
Roberts wants no part of this BS.
And the dems keep trying to bring him into it.

One of the entertaining (to me anyway) side effects of this whole thing is that Dems have unapologetically burned many, many bridges.
