Baw. If we go through it 1,000 times from every conceivable direction, while doing 350 computer recreations, and talking about it non-stop on every news and gossip show, it will surely bring him back to life.
Let Kobe live.

I have a question that may or may not be stupid; once it became impossible to navigate visually, couldn't the chopper pilot ask for clearance to say 3,000 feet so he would be visible on radar (and maybe above the fog/cloud cover) and have the controller guide him to a safe place?

Many people are asking about the loss of altitude at the end of the video. First, it's important to remember that this is based on preliminary data. Second, NOBODY knows why at this point. That is certainly one of the main things the NTSB investigation will explore

Kobe certainly isn’t the biggest celebrity to die young, unexpectedly or tragically.
But in consideration of the continuing coverage, outpouring from random places (eg. Tribute billboard in New Mexico), and incredibly sad surrounding circumstances (eg. Daughter with him), this is arguably the biggest celebrity death of all time; at least in the United States.

Recency bias working overtime.

Seems strange that the last communication was from the tower and no response from the helicopter like engine trouble or anything. Makes you wonder if the pilot had a medical condition that prevented him from communcation at the end.

Not really.
The continued questions of why did the helicopter crash, and the tragedy of him dying with his daughter make the story a lot bigger than had Kobe died by himself via drug overdose or complications like most other celebs.

They were losing communication because the Helicopter was flying low in a mountain/ hilly area. This was actually discussed on the radio between the tower and pilot.

are you 12? too young to remember the year-long circus of mourning that followed the Princess Di car crash?
The fact that it hasn't even been a week and people are asking to stop hearing about it already should tell you something.

That’s why I said United States.
The princess di tragedy is most similar to Kobe, and far bigger on a global scale. This is basically our princess di.

Kobe wasn't alone on that helicopter, but I guess the eight other people don't count since they wasn't famous.
