Dude has been playing some mediocre arse golf for quite some time now. I’m a huge fan, but damn.

+2 thru 8 today with 3 bogeys on the front 9 at the WM Phoenix Open.

His formula has been to play pretty well the first two days and completely implode on the weekend.

No. He needs to break away from McCormick.

Big fan of his but you’re 100% on point. I have never seen someone make more 15-20 foot putts like he did when he was on. It was kinda unreal.

Chicken wing. Short and inaccurate on drive. Hot putter turned average. Odds are against him.

His ranking in SG putting is still near the top on tour. His big difference is driving. He was top 25 in driving when winning, he’s been nearly dead last last couple years.

Correct, his driver is terrible.

I always wondered during his run, if his style was maintainable. Dude was hitting monster putt after monster putt. That’s just not practical long term.

This is an understatement. When his downturn started, he was still doing interviews. Some of the things he said were alarming. He said he wasn’t comfortable standing over a golf ball. YIKES!!

Is it really a decline though or did he just have one amazing Masters to Masters run from 2015-16? That set the bar pretty high.

He's still had three Top 10 finishes and six Top 25 finishes the last two years at majors. I think he will win multiple more majors in his career. He's just too good of a putter. And he's only 26 years old.

Makes you wonder how long Brooks can maintain his high level of play in majors. Jordan and Brooks have pretty comparable major records.

He’s still draining putts. Pretty sure he was first or second in putting just last year.

You just don’t see them because he’s never in contention anymore.

No doubt. His wedge game doesn't look as crisp as his prime.

Watch him over a driver though. She shuffles his feet for what seems like an eternity.

Yeah, if he tightens up the wedges then he'll start contending again. He needs to give himself some better looks at these putts. Can't expect to drain too many of these 30+ft birdie putts.

Pretty solid so far in Rd 2 though.

This is a big misconception. He had one of the best GIR % for years. I think he was near 80% for a chunk of time like 4 or 5% ahead of 2nd place. If my memory serves me correctly, he made some changes to his swing trying to add distance and he hasn’t been the same since. He has less wrist action and a slight chicken wing but some of the most accurate guys and best ball strikers have had some of these traits this like lee Westwood and steve stricker...coincidentally two of the “best to never win a major.” He’s clearly always had a different demeanor on the course and never shuts up..probably great when he’s rolling but not when he’s off

He was one of the best putters on tour last year and he still was a mid tier player

His flash in the pan would be completely unprecedented. Basically a combination of Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington success but 10+ years younger than they were during their flashes.

Hard to imagine a guy like Spieth just being an average dude out there for the next 15-20 years. I think he eventually rights the ship and wins a major again.

His putting stats are a little skewed last season. He was 1st in distance of putts made per round. Inside of 10 feet he was terrible.

He’s going to likely miss the cut at the WM Phoenix open today. On the wrong side of the line.

Golf is a mental game, but I think he’s making it more mental than he needs to be. If he has another season like last year, it’s time to change gears and get a new caddie and swing coach.
