unless LSU is stripped of the title for whatever reason, he can live off this forever. Now from being the headcoach at LSU with our fans, they will be screaming for his head if he does not win another natty in the next 4 years.

ol How am I a hater? Because I am not assuming that one amazing year with an all-world generational type QB who is now gone will translate into LSU becoming the new Bama and winning rings every other year? That is just realism.

That is not realism - next year hasn't happened yet and you cannot see into the future, so no "realism". LSU won the National Championship and will remain Champions until someone beats us. If we go undefeated next season we will be crowned 2021 National Champions. Wait and see

Based on your reasoning it would be 2030 but Coach O will replace himself if he thinks it is needed.

5 years

He has at least that, assuming he wins the expected 9 or 10 games (minimum) and competes with Bama and Auburn for the SEC-CG spot.

Any SEC team can make it to the playoffs with a single loss if they win in Atlanta. Hell, Bama can do it with 2 losses (I know, I know, 2007, frick off - that was a 1 in a million for us, just as much as 2019 was - the stars aligned, nothing was handed to us).

So, 10 wins is this close. As long as he does that, he has 5 years or more, IMHO.

(I mean, if there is some reasonable justification for it, I think he can survive a losing season, but it would be tough in this environment. If he rings up, say 3 or 4 8-win seasons in a row, his seat might heat up as well - expectations are sky-high - he is partially responsible for that. That is only fair.)

I figure having the greatest season in CF history can buy you a few years lol... But what really won me over was how and what Burrow said about O during his Heisman speech. That type of love and appreciation towards a coach doesn't exist everywhere...

I’d say he earned 4 years. We all know how quickly Tiger fans can turn on a coach.

specially here ... with a a lot of haters lurking in the background.

Also, not all losses are created equal...
a very competitive 9-3 team is not the same as a getting blown out 9-3 team .... specially after all the chanbges.

3 or 4 years.... Les Miles knows

If not for the Honey Badger and 2011 Miles wouldn’t have lasted past 2012 or 13.

Rashard Lawrence gave some insight about O. He stated that Orgeron is not afraid to change, or question his approach. He said O is always wanting to improve how he does things.

Huh? in 2012 we finished 6-2 in the league and were a busted screen coverage away from winning the West.

2013 the offense moved the ball very well (prior to what we know this year anyway ), and we were 5-3 in the league with a road trip to Athens on the schedule.

Both teams won 10 games. Who's firing that?

LSU head coaches have to compete for the SEC title on a regular basis. Miles was no longer competing for SEC titles. Compete doesn't mean you cannot lose titles or finish second in the west. Competing for the SEC title AND finishing second in the west DOES mean our LSU Tigers will likely get invites to the CFP playoff.

Why don't we wait to see how things go forward? This is just your old tigerprosperphobia talking. You are terrified that it will be another 12 years before LSU is relative. Things just aren't like they were then.

This is the first time in the history of the LSU football program we have had a coach willing to adjust scheme/coaching style to compete. The talent in Louisiana mixed with the willingness to be forward thinking with scheme is a formula to long term dominance. Your question is moot. He will be here until he decides to leave. We are entering the most successful time in the program’s history.

(by the way, neither Bama, nor any other SEC team, is getting in the playoffs with two losses, barring a complete meltdown from the other Power 5 conference champs)
