Changing the spark plugs on some of their V8s requires a massive amount of patience and probably a lot of spare plugs. The design is horrible.

Cylinder 4 & 8 are a pain in the butt changing spark plugs and ignition coils on the 4.6L.

Just hit 114k on my 07, which had 24k when I bought it in 09.

Which engine?

Bring it to a recommended indy.

Maybe a bad MAF sensor.

Find a local repair shop with mechanics that are ASE certified. They will scan the computer for the codes. Unless under warranty avoid a dealer at all costs. As a reminder, the Service Advisor at any dealership is charged with up-selling you every time you bring in your vehicle for service. They are salesmen for services and if he/she isn't up-selling they won't be employed long. So they always are trying to up-sell you alignments, shocks, engine/transmission flushes,tune-ups, etc. Their job is to get you to allow the shop to do more work on your vehicle than what really is needed.

My buddy’s dad bought a 2019 F150 King Ranch 5.0 and after 6 months the engine blew. It’s been in and out the shop since he bought it.

The driveability is perfectly fine. Not running hot, never misses. The only reason I brought the thing is was the check engine light and that was the only thing still under warranty. That was actually catalytic converter and covered

It sounds like you don't actually need the other stuff... I would drive it like it is. Your light is off and it drives fine, so don't worry about the plugs and water pump.

I would find out why they are recommending to change the water pump and plugs though. Spark plugs are good for 100k plus miles on modern vehicles.

I’ve read about problems with the recent 5.0s. I don’t know why Ford fiddled with it, bc it seemed like a rock solid engine. My neighbor just bought one and I wish him luck but I would go with the ecoboost. A few years ago I trusted the 5.0 more but the ecoboost seems more reliable now.

My Toyota has been to the shop more than any of my Fords. But hey, your anecdotal evidence is clearly better than mine.

My Dad has a 2011 Tundra that has 399k miles on it. Purchased it brand new. The worst issues it’s ever had were a fuel pump that went out and alternator bearings that went bad (and it took until last fall for that to happen). Still drives it for work everyday, still hauls heavy loads with it. Meanwhile, his last truck, 2007 F250 superduty had to be towed numerous times and he got rid of it for the Tundra before the motor could completely go out, because that’s what was coming soon with all of the issues it had had.

Try 123k in 36 months on a BMW 328i as a commuter... only had one issue at a cost of $700

I bought a Tundra and it’s rock solid, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a Ford. I really like them. I like the Ram too. Chevy is nice but only with the 6.2. The 5.3 is sufficient but uninspiring.

The plugs are fairly easy on the 5.0.

service dept. kept telling me I needed knew brakes for a squealing sound. They kept it for 3 days. This was their diagnosis. I explained I just changed them the month before. Tried to tell me the after market pads aren’t as good as theirs. I go well it’s still under warranty I’ll go back to where I got the brakes done. So I did. A freaking tire shop takes the tires off. One pad was shot. The caliper was sticking at times keeping the pad engaged. They said there’s no way anyone with any level of mechanic ability would miss it. All they had to do was remove the tire to see it. So an hour later problem solved. The mechanic and manager said there was no doubt that AllStar had never even removed the tire to begin with. They not only fixed that side they installed all new brakes and calipers on both side at no charge.
