Ford is the worst when it comes to service. Love my truck, hate their service.

I've only had to take one of my Ford vehicles over the year to the dealer and I found them to be great.

You could just say "yes, that is way above average" but apparently that would be too easy.

If you're out of warranty, I would definitely get a second opinion. The dealership will rape you every chance they get. I brought my truck to the dealership years ago to get something fixed and they came back with a huge list of shite that they recommended for about the same cost. I left out of there paying $200 for what really needed to be fixed. They want you to trade it in, you're at the dealership where they make a living off of selling new cars. Find a good local mechanic that has a good reputation.

if you drive at all it isn’t too bad

I swear these guy must only drive to the grocery store and back to work if they think 13k miles a year on a truck is a lot..or even 24k miles a year.

I do that in 6 months easily

get an email 4 hours later that the diagnostics came back and to address the issues they found it'll cost me a smooth 3500 dollars lol. I bought the truck brand new, its about 30 months old. I take good care of it, certain don't rag it out. And this isn't meant to be a Ford bash post. I actually love the truck and was fine with Ford. Truck has about 60K miles on it. I don't know the point of this post honestly, i guess just to share some misery haha.

is it an ecoboost or 5.0

I have a 2016 with 90k on it. I’ve had 0 problems with anything except my back door handle fell off. When I asked Ford how much it would be, they gave me a RIDICULOUS price because they claimed the had to take the door panel off to replace the handle

Then my key broke off the key fob and they were going to charge me 400 to get one re-cut and programmed. Needless to say, I found somewhere to do it for 250.

He just bragging he got $3500 to throw away without a fight or even what needed to be repair, nor apparently cares. Just heard ‘$3500 and you will fix problem, thank you so much”

The last body style f150 has a common problem where a $15 part goes bad on the HVAC system, fix is around $1200-$1800 depending on where you go.

5.0 for Ford is a pretty solid engine. Surprised at this.

Is it a 5.0L in a truck or a 5.0 mustang? If Mustang, it is very tempting most of the time to thrash the thing, since they are quarter mile torque beasts. If that's the case, maybe your friend has thrashed it too much or redlined it once too often?

I had a 98 Chevrolet throw a rod at 54K, and a cracked flywheel before that.
