ooks like just the Kailas controlled or linked entities on that one report gave about $30,000 to the Cantrell campaign. He has hundreds of entities filed with the state though so I'm sure I am missing a lot.
No Cantrell supporter here.
But every businessperson donates to political campaigns on both sides of the aisle.
And EVERY politician accepts donations from anyone willing to write the check towards their campaign.
Hell our President readily admits that he wrote thousands of dollars of checks to Dems and Repubs, and was visited by them to solicit funding.
Conclusion: THEY ARE ALL WHORES.
- Doesn’t mean that when the shite hits the fan on either side that they won’t try and distance themselves from the other.

Do not disagree with you at all. But considering the delays in taking the building down, I think people are starting to ask why. And LaToya is on record against a City Council investigation. Lo and behold, she's the single biggest beneficiary or Kailas' political contributions.
No fire, lots of smoke is my opinion. Glad it's being discussed.

I think the delays are due to lack of competence and urgency on the behalf of the developer, combined with perhaps a lack of access to funds.
OSHA and the private attorneys, at this point, shouldn't need the building up anymore for investigation.
As far as a council investigation, those go a lot like congressional investigations - a lot of screaming and no action. Between the lawsuits and OSHA, we good on that front.
I bet if someone looked hard enough, they would find lots of donations from Kalais and others, to the council members, to Charbonnet, etc.

Jason Cantrell may have money coming his way from some of those Kailas interests as well.

I expect nothing substantial to come from a city council investigation but Latoya's violent opposition to the idea was interesting. It almost as angry as I saw her when destroying Mardi Gras ladders.

Agree completely.
The 2 things that have caught my attention:
1. The building hasn't come down yet
2. The (as you put it) violent opposition to an investigation she does not control

Thet had the plan to implode the building pretty quickly. Seemed like early decemeber, all clean by March or something. The caveat was 1031 needed to take down two more buildings next door.
City, and most the citizens, balked and said there had to be another way.
1031 went back to the drawing board and came up with the traditional demo that required shoring up the building then demoing, Novemeber timeline. Took another month or two to come up with this plan since.
City, and a lot of the citizens, balked and the original implosion plan came back in.
Not sure how long these plans should take to develop. Haven't done any implosion work. Only demo work I been involved in took a few months to plan and execute, but we weren't trying to beat some clock.

Nothing there. Self financed and not much.
She, on the other hand, had donations from 7 of Kailas' businesses, and that's just from the 3 of 20 pages of Corporations he has listed under his name. (That's as far as I've gotten)

The PR dude yesterday pretty much called out the council on its bullshite. They said they have had no updates and the atty said there is a phonecall ever day from the fire chief giving an update
Seems like that is pretty damn easy to prove.

No doubt. I would imagine the way her opponent shookdown businesses he donated the same amount to the other side as well.

The fire chief also said there was no way to replace a new tarp and that it was impossible because the building had shifted and it was too dangerous.
3 hours later there was a new tarp covering the body.
Typical incompetence

That was pretty bad. Someone obviously stepped in and said they didn't care about the risk someone was getting their arse up there and ending this horror film.

It just baffles my mind that we live in a city where a dead guy's legs dangling over the tourist section of the city is met with "yeah we can't really do anything about it".

People are trapped in rubble all the time and we move forward.
The pic made it all too real. Last week the only talk about the site was how Endymion was going to bypass it.

it is sincerely very very depressing.
I'm not from here, only been here like 5 years... I think I underestimated what the futility of living in NOLA does the a normal human psyche
at the very least I'm starting to genuinely understand why people are ALWAYS drinking here/why I know dozens of functioning alcoholics. it's escapism and it's sorely needed tbh
