So, basically, you wanted your own coronavirus thread.

Out of a population of 330M

It's not bad and most of the one deaths will probably be the flu and a complication, or flu and old person didn't seek medical attention. Or flu and parent tried to pray it away in a small child.

Look at the math on how contagious this virus is.

*R0 tells you the average number of people who will catch a disease from one contagious person.

Flu R0 is 1

This means every one person will infect one other.

Wuhan Coronavirus R0 is closer to 4

This means every one person will infect 4.

This means even if the death rate of infected persons is the same or even lower, more will die due to this virus than flu.

Unless my math is off?

R0 of SARS was between 2-5, it had a higher mortality rate than this virus so far, and it was ultimately capped at 8700 cases when the dust settled. Keep in mind China took two months to even tell the WHO about SARS.

This time around they're pretty clearly taking it serious. Should help keep the numbers down quite a bit.

This has been going on since December. They were recording them as pneumonia at first. They didn’t start doing anything until they got busted trying to cover it up. I mean you do know they were locking journalist up for falsely reporting in this virus a week or so ago right?

I've read the articles that talked about Chinese actions at home, but most have also mentioned they've been upfront with the international community.

If your being honest why arrest reporters?

Why did they hide the truth?

I’m sure you think all those Uighur folk are really just being sent to community colleges as well.

Because governments are inherently corrupt and get more corrupt as they get more authoritarian. There are multiple examples of our own border patrol detains journalists, searches their belongings, and chastises them for writing things they see as unfavorable about our own government.

Yet, that doesn’t mean I’m going to believe something implausible just because it contradicts an untrustworthy government. But I can still not trust the government at the same time.

This is Wuhan, not a third world shite hole, yes they eat some crazy shite over there, but living in south Louisiana where people eat stuffed pig stomachs, chitterlings, etc, I would think that would be considered the pot calling the kettle black?

Even OP is doing his best MSM reporting.
His own link estimates between 8,000 and 20,000 deaths.
Only puts "20000" in thread title (with the obligatory "up to")

Didn’t we go thru this with bird flue and SARS? Many panicked and started buying face masks cause we were all gonna die.

Then we realized all you needed was bed rest, some soup and Sprite to recover. Plague avoided.
