What do you think of "Doomsday Preppers"

I've been watching the show on Netflix recently, I must say it is quite entertaining. Most of the people on there are complete white trash squids, but some are pretty wealthy. A good majority of the concerns these people have are extremely far fetched, which makes the show entertaining. While others have concerns that are at the very least conceivable...not to say they would ever happen, but it's a concern I can at least believe would be in the realm of possiblity.
I like to kick back and light up some of the devil's lettuce, makes the show much more entertaining.
What are some legitimate concerns you have that could cause this type of world fallout?

My problem with them is they let everyone know.... so if something does happen then you have 1000 people coming to you bunker or whatever.
Its all just a fantasy/hobby for them.

Coronavirus type of event
Some kind of hit to the electic grid nation/world wide.
Nuclear accident/event
asteroid / meteor event scares me but honestly you wouldn't want to survive that.

They are either going look kooky or look like the smartest people on Earth. There is no in-between. Only time will decide for us.

This is a very valid point, are they really going to kill their neighbors? I think not.

I'm a mild prepper. Nothing for doomsday, just waiting for the social and economic fabric of society to deteriorate. I plan on being the warlord of the Tennessee Valley. I'll be very benevolent, don't worry.

This is America...doesn't matter what "you think"
If folks feel they need to prep then good for them

This to me is the most likely catastrophe. It wouldn't have to be down long for things to get crazy, as we saw after Katrina. That was only one area and there was plenty of assistance pouring in from all over the country.
And to think our enemies are probably working day and night to figure out how to do this.

I disagree a bit. This stuff was really en vogue when we almost had total economic collapse in '08. No reason it can't happen again or something that fricks up our energy supply/ability to move around or electrical grid. Good on them for trying to be ready.

I don't

I started watching it last night lol.
They are crazy. Though having a plan to some extent if shite goes down isn't a horrible idea. Just don't go that extreme like these crazy fricks. Like I have a back up supply of insulin that will last me at least a year.

I think you're a little crazy if you don't have some kind of contingency plan for when shite hits the fan. Human history is replete with disaster of all sorts; there is no reason to believe we have become immune.

If I were to win the Powerball I would have a good fallout shelter. Until I win that though, I'm not sure it's the wisest way to spend time and resources

Especially with hurricanes and floods where we live. It makes sense to have some type of preparation so you could be self sufficient at least for a few weeks/months.

I live in New Orleans so it’s kind of pointless.

Many can definitely be on the odd side.
On the other hand, the idea that humans have really evolved that much over the past 1,000 years is a farce as well.
Humanity is only about 9 meals away from chaos.

when the collapse comes
coins will be worth more than bills because they last longer
dry rice and beans will be the food stock of choice
22's and BB guns will be desired food gathering tools
gasoline will run out. engine will be converted to wellhead gas
small engine repair will be a desirable trade craft
centralized taxes and government will cease to exist

Nothing wrong with prepping for disaster.
