I used to think like this. Until I was on pain meds for most of the last 7 years. Even if you aren't "addicted", your body still builds dependence. It's science.

And withdrawals are absolute hell.

That’s a very simplistic and naive way to view things. The reality of addiction and it’s causes is much more complicated than that and just be thankful you’ve never found yourself or someone you love stuck in that hole.
