The NCAA recognizes it as a NC!
The NCAA has never "recognized" any national champions for the Division I - Football Bowl Subdivision. It does acknowledge, however, that a few selectors have tried to name some.

we still recognize the 2003 title and we were co-champions with USC that year.
No we aren’t. We are the BCS National Champions. They are not. End of story. I don’t care that the AP poll threw a fit that USC didn’t play in the BCS game. Everyone agreed that the BCS was the one champion when the system was implemented. There have been plenty of other great teams to miss that game. None of them get called champions.

We can't claim '03. We weren't even SEC West champions

I agree. Doesn’t Bama claim a title in 1934?

No, we weren't. We were the national champions. Period. Sports writers can kiss my arse

LSU was the BCS Champion, USC was the AP Champion, though both the coaches and AP agreed to fully support the BCS System. Something obviously the AP did not!

I started recognizing it as soon as I learned about it. It happened decades ago.

1908 - when is it going to happen?
Are we really so desperate to chase numbers that we want to claim a championship from 100+ years ago, when college football was nothing close to what it’s been the last 50 years.
Why don’t we let the other schools chase silly numbers, and we show more class and just keep winning today?

I agree. Doesn’t Bama claim a title in 1934?
Why not be better than them, and not do that nonsense?
