Oh, because taking off 3 days for Mardi Gras in the middle of the semester tells the rest of the country that we don't like to party?

Monday was going to be the first day of classes. Pushing back the start of the Semester by 2 days sounds like a better idea than nobody showing up for class the first 2 days.

Also, who cares how LSU is perceived by out of state people. The people that would turn their nose up at LSU cancelling classes would never attend or let their kids attend LSU anyway.

I hate to break it to you but if you aren't an Ivy League or top 25 ranked academic school then people perceive your college as the same as other colleges but just with a different culture or college experience. People from out of state come to LSU for the culture and experience just as much if not more than the academics.

2 degrees from LSU and I am pretty sure I never went to the first week of class. The football team is comprised of students, the band is comprised of students, the cheerleaders are comprised of students, the Golden Girls are comprised of students, the trainers and reveille reporters are comprised of students and all of these poor souls will have to be in NOLA for the game. Isn’t it only fair in your snowflake world that they are not put at a disadvantage by being forced to miss the first day of school?
