That’s why I left out the at night part. But that is still well below the Alabama limit.

Nothing. Hopefully that changes next weekend, either for me or my son...and I'll be good with either.

Savage Axis in 270 Winchester. 140 grain Hornady BTSP over 59.5 grains of RL-26 for 3050 fps. I killed 2 and my cousin used it to kill 2. None went over 20 yards.

I've been in that young man's shoes before. When I was around 11 or 12 I was sitting in a tree with my stepdad one afternoon. It was getting dark and we were at the edge of a big bean field that was on top of a hill so you couldn't really see the other side from the ground, but from the tree stand you could. There were some deer picking out there and a few does mixed in. Seeing them sit there at 250 yards was killing me. The sun is halfway on the horizon and after begging to let me climb down and creep to the middle of the field I finally got the nod. "Don't shoot a button buck." I felt like a master when I crept up close enough. Picked my deer and boom. Walk up to it and yep, it's a button buck. I felt really bad but looking back it's funny.

I'll say a .375 H&H Magnum since most OB baws prefer over-kill to the max.

Honest answer is a 6MM Remington.
