I assume it's the 107. They've been firing them bitches pretty much non-stop for the last fifteen years.

Based on the description, this is stuff rooted in WWII era Soviet tech.

Which probably means Iran gave it to the militias.

Media is getting stiff in the pants over this, I'm sure. But they'll need to calm down.

There are still militia groups active in Iraq that don't just disappear after US and Iran decide to deescalate.

Watch out. You gonna get called out for “defending Iran” with that kind of talk.

so I got downvoted and told I’m defending Iran the other day for laughing at the use of katyusha and saying they’ve been using them for years and now I get downvoted again

Oh poly board. Never change.

Chinese-made 107mm rockets have been the rocket of choice of third-world insurgents for several decades now. They were ubiquitous in Iraq - it's not an exaggeration that there are (or were) tens or hundreds of thousands of those things floating around Iraq.

Almost every rocket attack that I experienced was with 107's. They usually aren't very destructive - among other reasons, our CRAM systems are good - and serve as much of a symbolic purpose as actually trying to hit and hurt Americans. I am pretty sure there have been at least a half a dozen if not more such attacks on Americans there just in the last month; it was a daily occurrence during certain periods of the war (and they shot all the damn time at the Embassy and GZ), as well.

In other words, kind of a big ol' yawn.

The old Katyusha rockets are WWII-era... literally just point and shoot... no guidance systems, highly inaccurate, basically like rocket mortars. I think the range for them is about 2 to 3 miles, but not sure about that.

These are the things Hezbollah has been using for DECADES... always shooting into Israel. That's why they will shoot 100 rockets and hit one house and kill two people. Complete luck if they hit anything they're aiming at.

Why are they allowed to survive? Send an Apache or whatever the latest killing machine is and wipe them off the mountainside.

Is a BREAKING explosion any different than a regular explosion?

Who? They are Iraqi and this is an urban area, not some rural area of Afghanistan.
