Who did you originally think was going to win the Republican Nomination in 2016?

Also, when did you knew Trump was going to win the nomination?

I knew he would win the nomination when he entered the race. I was a Ben Carson fan because i have followed him for about 35 years and knew a lot about him. Dr Carson has more character than anyone in Washington but Trumpnis definitely the man for this job. He is an incredibly strong man.

I thought Jeb would get it and lose to Hillary. Certainly wasn’t rooting for him.
Most closely aligned to Ben Carson but liked Trump’s message and energy. Jumped on the train fast.

Trump the day he announced.

I followed Trump for a while before he got into politics and knew he had the wit and personality to wipe out the competition.

I thought Rubio would capture some momentum on Super Tuesday 2016. I didn’t imagine Trump getting all the support that he did, but 2016 was a very unique election.

I said Trump would win to my family not long after he announced and got laughed at by them. Felt extra good when he won

Before Trump, either Jeb or Cruz.
Posted on 1/7/20 at 9:54 pm to BleepBop
I voted for Cruz in the primary.

I was on the Trump train from the day he came down the escalator at Trump Tower to announce his candidacy. I told my wife that Trump will win the presidency because he is the only one that has a plan to address the gutting of America’s industrial heartland. I felt that he had a chance to win back a large block of blue collar, union voters who usually vote Democrat because of his stance on trade/tariffs.

LSUPimp knew a year or two in advance. Props to that dude.
I thought Cruz was gonna win initially.

Thought it would be Cruz.
Wife told me I was wrong, that it would be Trump and he would win the general election as well.

I thought Jeb was going to win.
I liked and voted for Lion Ted.
I did not mind that Trump won and I enthusiastically supported him in the general election.
I am glad Trump beat Cruz.
I don't know if Cruz has the fight that Trump has.
I will vote for Cruz in 2024 if he runs.

Once the Republican debates started, I could see that Trump was alpha as hell and would dominate. So very early on. Before that, I didn't really have an opinion.
In the general election, I had a pretty good feeling that Trump would win, but when HRC spoke the "basket of deplorables" remark in September '16, I knew it would backfire on her and Trump would prevail.

Originally? Jeb. He had the most money ($110 million) going into the primaries and he was the establishment pick.
I knew Trump was going to win the nomination after the first debate.
