The worst I say!! I bought 2 different types of salsa from Lakeview grocery recently - both were absolutely terrible. Zero flavor, zero heat. I was so disappointed. What I've noticed is salsa is like craft beer - a lot of marketing and fancy packaging - all hype. I normally make my own salsa but I've just been being a lazy punk lately and haven't been able to find good tomatoes here.

I've settled on Crystal hot sauce on chips for the time being and I have to say - its going pretty well so far

I only buy my salsa from the illegal in the food truck down the street, “Holeonfire Foods”.

Gets me by.

ETA: I prefer to make my own as well but with two little kids, give me the fricking easy button these days.

Are you buying the crap in a jar by the chips?

Check the deli, the cold salsa is usually decent
Easy to add fresh cilantro & a jalapeño for more heat

Clints medium Texas salsa been my go to recently... for me must have peppers, lime, garlic, cilantro and not be chunky. Fire roasted a plus

The salsa by the chips is mainstream crap.

Check the Mexican aisle.

I like Mateo's just fine, but it is pretty spicy if you get it too hot. Or I'm just a bitch.

But why not swing by one of the probable 5 Mexican joints on your way home from work and get some there? I don't think I ever spend more than $5 for the pint and it comes with their chips too.

Matteos GOAT

Though I've been enjoying this lately along with their chips:

Any salsa from a jar is crap. It has to come from your grocery store cooler in a sealed plastic tub. Fire roasted chilis preferably.

If your favorite grocery market doesn’t offer it then you need to find a new favorite grocery store.
