Everyone always said this, and there is some truth. But our starting left tackle is from right outside Starkville. And Next year’s starting QB is from Mississippi. And we’ve had some others over the years.

MB is a little different. He is from Louisiana and moved to Mississippi.

Anyone know why jackson de-committed?

Right. It is hard to pull kids out of Mississippi but north of i20 are mostly either die hard state or ole miss. I have a good friend from poplarville ms who says that there are more LSU fans than anything else

guys like him have a hard time leaving the state. ole miss usually ponies up and does what they need to do.

Which generally means paying for more than the going rate for a player of his caliber and position just to keep the “optics” of being relevant inside the state.

I think his coach and a few other people close to him are die hard Bama fans. I think they encouraged him to decommit so he could fully enjoy the recruiting process.

I remember reading when he committed how much his mom loved Orgeron. Hopefully we can land him

South Mississippi is a lot more like Louisiana and has a ton of transplants from Louisiana. Lots of LSU fans here. It is also a lot closer to LSU than MSU and Ole Miss also

That’s prime Roll Tider territory as many of those people don’t make it to college and kids root for who is hot. Distance to all schools is probably close with OM being furthest. A good rule of thumb is go into Wal-Mart and see what t-shirts are most popular.

i'd be surprised if LSU got this kid out of Mississippi. Seems like a home school or Bama always wins this kind of battle.

Kiffin is an elite recruiter. If he wants any kid, much less a Mississippi kid, we are gonna have a tough time getting him.

Kiffin vs Coach O will definitely be a saga worth watching on the field and off the field with recruiting

there’s nothing in stone obviously, but the gut feeling from some insiders is that he picks LSU. The hometown “pull” at the last minute is strong in Mississippi though. And by pull I mean boosters paying whatever it takes to keep him at MSU or OM.

Our best shot is him committing and then shutting it down and cancelling the rest of his visits. Here’s hoping he commits and sticks.

Sorry, for some reason I thought he went to West Point. But I also seem to remember he was one of the kids who was born in Louisiana and left after Katrina. So I guess we had an in anyway.

Jackson, Gibbs, and Crawford or another beast OL would be great.

If so, we may give up zero points in 2021.

Dline recruiting is in O's wheelhouse. Plus, I wouldn't think Jackson has much of a relationship with kiffin anyway. Him rooming with Guillory last week can't hurt either.

The way he talked about that A&M D Line coach makes me more worried about A&M than I am about Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-2, 300-pound Jackson realized it was time to commit after that conversation with Orgeron following the Texas A&M game. Not only did the team’s dominance on the field appeal to Jackson, but the postgame conversation left an impression, as well.

Orgeron approached Jackson and Fantroy with a sincere message, which triggered an emotional response and a boom within 48 hours.

“We’re going to take care of him and love him just like you do. He’s going to be a very rich man in the future,” Orgeron told Fantroy.

“It was made me feel the way that she felt — emotional,” Jackson recalled. “I knew this was the route. Even though it’s so soon, it was on my mind and I knew where I wanted to be. When I told her [he wanted to commit], she cried again. She’s not a big crier, but the last few days made her tear up.”
