New decade

Why does the decade begin at year in 2020 and not 2021. Did Jesus and the people back then decide to start at 0? I don't start counting my fingers at zero. Why should I begin counting years or decades at zero.

Think of 1/1/2020 as day 1. Start counting

Because it's easier for retards like you

so should I start counting day 1 at zero. Like when I start a job should I say this is the zero day that I started on?

No
And 10 or 20 or 30 aren't zero
What the hell are you smoking

There was no year 0, we started with year 1. Are you telling me the first decade AD was only 9 years?

quote:no, it is day 1. When you reach 365, it will have been 1 year. You keep going until you get to 10 years. That is a decade.

Are you under the impression that Jesus invented the calendar?

quote:Exactly. The first decade AD was the years 1-10. The second decade was 11-20. Likewise, 2020 is the last year of this decade. 2021 will be the first year of the next decade.
You keep going until you get to 10 years. That is a decade.

Because we are starting the '20s. It would be dumb to start the '20s in 2021. Just like the '80s started in 1980.

We shift the decades a year so that the names we make up for them fit the language neatly - "the 20s". A decade is just a block of a 10 year time period, though, so I could start counting a new decade at any second of any day of any year.
