Interesting research article about hamstring injuries specific to intercollegiate athletics.

This particular study looks at different treatment options, recovery times and recurrence rates for Grade I and II strains.

In this study the average time missed 11 days (range 5-23).

The study mentions there are different protocols for treatment. The one studied here mentions immediate immobilization and then relatively aggressive early treatment with running and Isokinetic exercise.

It’s an interesting read if you’re interested in sports medicine: LINK

I fully trust the LSU medical staff and am confident they are constantly updating treatment methodology based on research studies like this.

Think this article supports the idea that IF CEH didn’t suffer a Grade III tear he COULD potentially be available for the championship game. Also supports the idea that you really don’t know projected recovery time until 72 hours after injury.

Not having CEH pass catching and chipping Burrow’s blindside is what I’m worried about. All of our backs are talented when you hand the ball off to them. It’s those 2 first things that concern me

My entire hamstring into my calf tightened up and bruised from my calf to my butt cheek once. I was gimpy for about a week but it got significantly better every day and nearly fully functional by around day 9 (albeit with a still nasty looking, recovering bruise).

Let's hope and pray for the best.

DRockk, this isn’t one of those lobbies. Keep those butt cheek stories to your other board.

It doesn’t mention the Alabama method of treatment that includes immediate surgery?

I pulled a hamstring in my senior year of HS and I think I missed one game. Which helped my team tremendously lol. So probably like 10 days or so. Hamstring injuries hurt more than you think- like a toothache or a paper cut or a Charlie horse - it puts you in the weird new pain zone.

The RB’s don’t chip and have never chipped in this offense FTR.

Now, pass block / pick up blitzes? Yes

The bottom line is hamstrings are assholes and a complete fricking enigma to scientists. They are unpredictable and do not abide by stretching routines.

Usain Bolt can pull his just as easily as my fat arse waddling around a walking track can.
frick the hamstring.

Hamstring injuries happen a lot in soccer players and they usually miss a long time. It can even make them miss a whole season. It's potentially one of the most serious injuries out there.
I hope CEH plays in the natty at least.

You realize that most of those are grade 3 or worse meaning there was a tear
In the hamstring. It has been stated that CEH does not have a tear.

It is going to depend on a lot of factors, but nobody knows.

Where did you read that? [seriously] All I was able to find on CEH was that he will do some tests and his situation will be updated.

One of the biggest things at play here is if he has a muscle vs tendon injury. If his injury is near the tendon insertion (butt cheek basically vs back of his thigh), the rehab is considerably longer. Those types of hamstring strains can linger for months. Let’s hope that’s not what Clyde is dealing with.
