I went three pages back and couldn’t find anything on this.

So California now finds it illegal to sell and distribute alligator skins for boots, etc in their state.

LINK

Last I checked, Louisiana has a surplus of alligator, it’s good to eat and it doesn’t effect the species or the environment in a negative way. Plus it’s a money maker for the state.

Is California playing the bully or just controlled by PETA?

This seems to be totally ridiculous!

California gets to decide what they want in their state.

I agree with state rights. Just wondering what natives on this board think and how Louisiana might counter. Seems petty and controlled by the activist left.

Curious about the basis of the lawsuit. Anyone know?

Very vague article. The article this week in the New Orleans Advocate this week stated that the difference between the Louisiana alligator and other similar, protected species cannot be detected. That is why California is taking the action that it is.

Protected as in not over hunted? It’s not like they’re endangered.

Florida is even more strict on alligators and American crocs due to the infestation of snakes.

I’m sure other states like Texas will welcome the biz.

Protected as in endangered. The article stated that the hides are very similar in appearance. So, in order to make sure that none of the endangered hides are sold in California, they are going to basically ban all of them.

California is 16% or so of the entire US GDP. Louisiana doesn’t want to get into an economic war with California.

CA already fired the shots on that end between this and shite like banning state travel to LA over bathroom laws.

I just reread the article. It stated that California is 30% of the alligator market in the world.

Im pretty tired of CA picking on states like LA and GA etc. The south needs to come together and ban a product from California.

Ca is teetering the lines on a lot of issues. How do they think they can control what their citizens can do while not in their state?

And what happens to the people that already own the newly banned items?

California - the open-air drug market state.

Makes sense that their fat-cats don't want folks buying gator skins with their drug money

Except there is this little thing called "interstate commerce" which falls under the Federal Government purview per the Commerce Clause of the US Constitution.

As if Progs give a damn about obeying the Constitution. It’s the thing stopping them from accomplishing all of their goals.

How about Facebook and Twitter and Google. That'll show California.

frick California. I hope Louisiana wins using the dormant commerce clause (which is a crock of shite itself, but oh well).
