WWL Link to video of rats eating at Willie's Pizza in the French Quarter
I had no idea Willie's had a pizza wing of it's chain. But i'll likely never be eating there now

According to VOODOO Bar & Pizza, the restaurant was closed at the time and will remain closed until the problem is resolved.
"Situations such as this have ensued at many restaurants on Bourbon street in the past and has recently gotten worse due to the construction taking place in our area," the statement read. "We want to stress that this footage is not representative of our brand or our standard of operations."
As of Thursday morning, the lights outside the restaurant have been turned off and tarps are covering the windows.
"We are working with out current pest control company, Orkin, our maintenance team, and our operations team to find a permanent solution to this problem," the statement read.
Alex McDonald works at a club down the street. He says this isn't the first time he's seen rats this size on Bourbon Street.
"I've been working out here a long time," McDonald said. "It's always been kind of a thing down here. After a while, you're just oh, a rat."
Rats have been a problem in the French Quarter for years. In the summer of 2018, video showed rats running rampant inside the French Market Restaurant and Bar. That video led the city to perform a major rat abatement operation in the French Quarter.

Early one freezing morning about a year ago, I went for a run and decided to take Bourbon Street through the Quarter because it was early & cold AF & no one was out.
No people were out and about, but the rats were going to town. I scared off a pack (herd? flock? what do you call a horde of rats?) of dozens of the little frickers between Toulouse and St Peter. Not quite Willard-level, but still extremely creepy, and enough to put me off...

I bet the rats don't start a thread every week asking how much to tip on to go orders so they are already more advanced than the average OTer.

The infrastructure of the French Quarter has been around for 300 years. Yea, it is going to have rats.

Somehow that would make the story even better though

Who here is gonna be there to eat when they reopen? Lol.
That restaurant is probably doomed to close now.

Any port City is going to have a lot of rats. That breed of rat all over NOLA and NYC originated in Asia centuries ago and spread to Europe, and the new world on ships.
Large port cities have anywhere from 1x-2x as many rats as people in the city.

Their main clientele isn't locals. It's tourists who don't know better.

The ones in the subway stations in NYC are no joke. They are large and mean.
I made eye contact with one once. He was smoking a cigarette and gave me the bird

The subway ones are the worst. People in the platform throw their trash right on those tracks and those rats get a constant stream of free meals.
