Brees first four drives: perfect QB rating 4 TDs. Saints lead 27-14. Looked unstoppable.

Shanahan executes successful trick play for 49ers TD on next SF drive and score is 27-21.

Next Saints drive: Payton pulls Brees on 1st and 3rd down in SF territory and Saints stopped on two horrible gimmick plays. Didnt score again in the half and trailed most of the rest of the way.

That summarizes Payton so well. Dude is a fricking clown. Ruined all Saints momentum trying to look smarter than Shanahan.

We chased those points all day and never got them back.

Disgusting decisions that will cost us home field advantage and possibly a first round bye.

The fricking 3rd and short call with Taysom was absurd

This series was dumbfounding.

I asked my 10 year old who do you think the 49ers want throwing the ball, Drew Brees or Taysom Hill?

He gave me the correct answer.

And going for 2 in the first quarter is just plain dumb. It makes zero sense.

Better off taking the 15 yard penalty on the kickoff and executing an on sides kick.

How about 3rd and 18 from their 47 after the Thomas Offensive Pass Interference and we throw a fricking swing pass to Kamara that Bosa tips? Brees had Thomas in the slant for 10 and Lutz would have a chance at a 55 yarder.

Would have made it 36-35

I certainly agree that Sean deserves criticism for that play. It was bad.

...but u have to give him credit for the gameplan that put up 46 on the “best D in the league”

Are you dense?

How about kamara fumbling on our own 20? or wherever it was. We were up 30-28 and had momentum bc we just got a 3 and out. First play boom kamara coughs it up. TD niners

I would agree that this loss falls on SP.

But your assessment of SP is totally asinine.

Putting up 46 points and you bitches are still hammering on him

Maybe if DA and the defensive coaches didn’t have their heads up their asses for the first half then 46 points would have been enougj

I don’t care about the few Payton miscues minus going for 2 early in the game which was full retard. The reality is, scoring 46 points should win you every game. If we’re back to the point of the Saints offense having to be flawless for the entire game because the defense is so bad (we are), then the team is one and done in the playoffs anyway.

No. The turning point is when we gave up a 40 yard run on a 4 yard pass when we just needed to keep things in front of us and we win.

You raise some valid points, but ...

Payton called a game in which the offense put up 46 points. It is brutally hard to win when you cannot stop the other team at all.
