Didn't Ole Miss start the nasty rumors about Norvell after he turned them down

A couple years ago? Am I remembering this right? No way on Earth Norvell would even consider Ole Miss if that is true.

May have been the Arkansas and Ole Miss administration. After looking into this for an hour or so, because I have nothing better to do. Norvell supposedly got two 18 year olds (at the time) pregnant while at Arizona State and pays a shite ton of child support to them. Other stuff about dink pics, gambling problems, possible coke usage, flings with students at Menphis.
I honestly have no problem with any of that and would hire him in a heartbeat.

nope, ole miss began the rumors to keep us from hiring him.
All nasty stuff too. He would have to get $$$ to even consider going to those folks after ruining his reputation like that.

Freeze was our only target when we hired him, as was Luke. Not sure we would start rumors about a coach we never even have on our short list...

A few years ago it was allegedly ole miss or Tennessee. Then this year allegedly Arkansas. Nobody knows for sure

Pretty sure it was Steve Robertson (MSU beat writer) who was dangling the rumors about Norvell, unless I've completely forgotten the scenario.

whoever hires Norvell will likely be getting a heckuva coach. He would most definitely beat Morehead every year, and probably get Ole Miss back to major respectability.
He was my first choice at Arkansas at the beginning. Then the Campbell and Kiffin rumors began. Love em both. WPS!

Gambling and the two girls at ASU are what made the rounds in the Memphis area.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Norvell stuck at Memphis. I don’t think a program is going to risk it all on him but with that being said my team is on the verge of hiring Joey freshwater so I guess you never know.
I’m close to two big time Memphis bolsters. The gambling stuff is real and the ASU co-Ed stuff is too. All the other cocaine and other stuff seems to be false from what I am told.

You are 100% correct. Rosebowl started the rumors when he thought we were going to hire Norvell the first time. He traded his meth addiction for being addicted to waking up every morning worrying about Ole Miss.
