I don’t understand why people leave pistols in their vehicles. You are gonna need a pistol sitting in your drivers seat. The time you will need it is outside your vehicle.

Dad's house was broke into and they stole all the guns in the house.
Year and half passes and we got about half of the guns back from a drug bust next county over. But they were beat to crap. They also sawed the barrel off my 410 to short and couldn't get it back.

Had a friend get one back after a suicide or close up murder needless to say cops don’t clean guns off to remove evidence so it was a mess.

Did he take it out of the box?
I can’t imagine firing my pistol inside my vehicle, I’d go deaf, and probably blind if it was dark.

He acted like they scratch them because the charge is less than an unscratched. Thought scratching was extra time?

Had one stolen 10 years ago. Widow broken out of truck. It was reported. Kimber 1911. Just got a call from Police within 30 miles from home telling me to come get it 2 weeks ago. The pistol was in pretty good shape. I about fell out when they called. It can happen!

In this day and age, there is literally zero excuse to have your windows open like that or the vehicle unlocked with a gun inside it.
Zero.
Honestly, you deserve whatever implications follow as a result of what transpired.

If I get shot with your gun I am suing.

My dad had Smith and Wesson model 15 stolen out of his truck in 1984. He reported it. About 10 years later a detective from local Sheriffs office called him and told him it was used in a murder. He got it back once the trial was over. I have it in my gun safe. It’s in pretty good condition inside ring some hood rat had it for 10 years.

Anybody ever actually gotten a stolen gun back?
I had a glock 19 stolen from my truck at the farm in Sumter county. (farmhouse is over a mile in all directions to any other property so that dude really wanted it).
Recovered 18 months later in Birmingham (120 miles away) from someone who was busted selling drugs.
Actually got it back with 2 extra magazines. He only stole my pistol but it was recovered with the extra magazines and the police gave them to me as well.

Ive had two guns stolen separate times and got both of them back.
One was found in the city in a double shooting and one in dallas in a homicide.

Yes. Eventually they are used in crimes.

Isn’t obliterating serial numbers a separate felony when someone gets a gun charge?

I have a buddy that lives in Central, his truck was broken into and his pistol was stolen. About 9 months later he gets a call from Baker pd telling him that they have his pistol and letting him know the proper paperwork and shite to get it back. He does his part and calls the Baker police back a couple days later to go pick up his gun, they proceed to tell him that they don’t have it anywhere. Since he had the proper paperwork they bought him a brand new pistol.
