Article about how the proposed change to a 17 game schedule would work. They state each team's additional game would be played "out of market" and the idea to play in US cities that do not have pro teams was brought up (& appears to have been well received.)

I think it's a cool idea. It'd be fun to watch a solid matchup in Tuscaloosa or South Bend. I doubt they'd have issues filling the stands.

The additional game for each club would be played out-of-market, the sources said, with a heavy emphasis on key international locales like the United Kingdom (London and Ireland, in particular), Germany, Mexico and Brazil. It also opens the possibility of a full eight-game regular season schedule of games in London

quote:

The NFL has also talked internally about playing games in other cities in the U.S. which do not have pro teams, with some buzz about playing a game at Notre Dame or Alabama, as well as Hawaii and cities in Canada. It is viewed as a unique and profound way to grow the game globally and extend the reach of sales, merchandising and broadcast rights around the globe, with there only so much more room for growth within America.

It was Katrina... But the Saints had issues filling the stands in Baton Rouge

This is a terrible idea. NFL demands billion dollar stadiums then wants to move home games like they are candy. Pathetic!

A cowboys game at War Memorial in Little Rock would be lit. I’m guessing that’s not the type of college stadium they’d be considering.

The Panthers played at Clemson while their stadium was being built because our AD wouldn’t let them play in Columbia for some reason.

So what would Jeff Fisher's record have been every year if this were in effect when he was coaching?

The chiefs flirted with this idea when the rams left to try and get more of our people to jump on. thwy wanted to play at mizzous stadium because its only 1.5 hours outside of stl. Honestly its a good idea from that stand point, but the ST holders for the chiefs were pissed(rightfully so)

A Cleveland/Cinci matchup in the Shoe would probably make for a good crowd. Roughly 2 hours to both cities, mixed with Columbus fans being generally split between the two fan bases already.

17 games will just frick up a perfectly set up schedule. Everyone in division plating the same division in both conferences with the 2 other games vs the other 2 finishers in standings

Outside of the schools in big pro cities (ucla, usc, minnesota, washington).

Some good ones would be:
Bengals/Browns in Columbus

Bears in Notre Dame (I know they played in Champaign for a year when solidier field was being worked on).

Falcons Panthers at Clemson. A falcons game at UGA

Steelers playing a game in Happy Valley or Morgantown.
Bengals and Browns in Columbus
Colts in South Bend
etc. would be cool to see.

I don't think it would work as well in places like New England and Seattle though.

Stay out of Canada, the last game was a Clusterfrick. They tried charging Grey Cup prices for an exhibition game.

If most Canadians want to see an NFL game live then they just go across the border and watch one. I and many other people I know do this quite regularly.
