Kary Vincent ran a 10.07 4th best in LSU history this past summer.
Wind aided...that’s why it’s not listed with the others.

Dude he was a 6 time All American sprinter for the track team. Finished 3rd in the 1988 200 and 6th in the outdoor 200, placed 4th in the 200 meter indoor in 1990, won the 55 and the 200, ran a 10.18 outdoors in the 100 and was the anchor on the LSU record holding 4x100 relay team, and that’s not even half of his track accomplishments. He ran a 4.3, 40 and a 9.3, 100 yards
As a member of the committee that nominates T&F athletes for the LSU athletics HOF I can assure you I am familiar with Watkins’s accomplishments. He was a fantastic sprinter but not Olympic caliber as the previous poster suggested.

Trindon probably the fastest.
Devery Henderson probably up there too.

Well, you are but one opinion. Had he trained solely for track, many said he was destined for Olympic trials.
And since you are touting yourself so much..... try arguing with the LSUSports.Net
From LSU Sports.net:
SLIP WATKINS
BIO
Arguably the fastest man in LSU history ... An instrumental figure in LSU's back-to-back national outdoor track and field titles, Watkins sat out the 1989 football season to concentrate on his track career ... Returned to the gridiron for the 1990 season and was backup to All-Southeastern Conference split end Todd Kinchen ... Watkins was a backup tailback in 1988, but moved to flanker in 1989 and participated in most practices last fall ... Missed some early practices due to international track competition ... Dangerous return specialist who ranked No. 3 in the SEC in kickoff returns in 1988 ... This All-America track sprinter added a unique dimension to the Tiger offense and is a deep threat as a receiver.

My mistake I thought you meant he wasn’t an elite NCAA sprinter not Olympic.

What about that suggests Olympic caliber?

Our track media guide has Trindon Holliday as the fastest football player ever. They use the 100 to determine this ranking so take that however you want.

3- Jacoby Ford (Clem) 10.01
4- Bob “Bullet” Hayes (FL A&M) 10.06

8- Willie Gault (Tenn) 10.10
9- Jonnie “lam” Jones (Texas) 10.14
10- Hershel Walker (UGA) 10.23

Ah, Slip Watkins. If I remember correctly, his full name was Walker Lee "Slip" Watkins. Loved that guy.
Also, about Trindon, I don't remember which LSU defensive player who said this, but he was asked by a reporter what it was like trying to tackle Trindon in practice. He said it was like trying to catch a fly.

Yes Trindon Holliday was our fastest football player. At least amongst track guys.(in 100m since that’s a football field)
Trindon Holliday - 10.00
Xavier Carter - 10.09
Donte Jackson - 10.22
Kary Vincent - 10.38
But Trindon was the only one who was a defensive end.

quote:They never threw in his direction. Not sure why. He always blew past the coverage.
We were so excited when he arrived and he burst onto the scene with a incredible play on a pass out of the backfield for a long TD vs Cal State Fullerton. But after that never could translate that speed onto the field for whatever reason.

Fastest individual play (not player) I’ve ever seen. (Perhaps it was my angle).
Was Corey Webster chasing down an opponent. Going towards north endzone. Can’t remember who it was against. But I remember he eliminated an angle and put on the jets. I still believe it was fastest single play. Otherwise I agree trindon,

Exactly and what’s crazy is back in that era we were always throwing to the backs yet he got no targets. The first pass he caught in an LSU uniform went for a 71 yard TD and I think he had another long one too so why not get him the ball?

Sammy Martin was fastest white boy

I really enjoyed watching Trindon run in the open field. That man was gifted.
