So you beat Texas and OSU beats Indiana. Indiana received more votes to be ranked this week than Texas. You say today that Texas is a top 10 win. You say today that Indiana is just part of OSU's cake schedule.

Winning out will be a tall order with the way the defense plays at times.

What matters is at the end of the year rankings not some bs pre-season rankings or ones heavily biased by said preseason ranking.
It was stupid then and stupid now.
LSU has two wins to date over teams with 2 or less losses. That’s the stat that matters.
They have 3 wins against teams with 3 or less losses. Again, pretty damn good.
Let’s stop trying to blow smoke up our own asses to try and make this team more than what it is. Right now it is the second best LSU team of the decade with a chance to move into the best team in a decade in these last five or so weeks.

quote:Maybe, but I also think that as much of a positive that was for Texas (e.g., early confidence) it could have been a negative for LSU (e.g., played them as if they were more or an equal, instead of a clearly inferior team).
It’s harder to beat a team at the beginning of the season that thinks they’re good than a team that knows they aren’t good at the end of the season.
Regardless, 6-4 is about as accurate of a record as they can have considering they’re 3-3 in one possession games. But if anything, they’re closer to 2-4 than 4-2 in those games since they have a smaller scoring margin (11 vs. 16), more last second wins (2 vs. 1), and fewer games that had a late score (e.g., < 2 minutes) to make it one possession (1 vs. 2) in their 3 wins.
So it’s a pretty decent win, but even those unquantifiable circumstances (e.g., hyped up team with a lot of confidence) that may make it a bit better of a win, doesn’t make it a very good win, let alone anything close to a top-10 win.

What the frick did you just write?
Here’s a clue. Beating a really good team that wins the rest of their games or at most has one other loss can be beating a top 10 team. Beating teams that end up with 3,4, 5 losses is just beating teams that were overrated to begin with. This happens often with SEC teams particularly since they get an extra rent a win because of the 8 game conference schedule. Then you add in that the fact that every year there’s a team or two or three like Texas A&M that are grossly overrated preseason and you get a lot of “top 10” wins that are nothing but bullshite.

You act like LSU didn't provide the blueprint on their weakness and how to beat them.
It's a long year once a teams weakness is exposed.
You mean the fact that they’re Texas and except for a couple of short stretches in history they’ve been a decidedly average, underachieving program? That blueprint?

The blueprint is to let Sam Ehlinger throw for 400 yards and hope Burrow can pull them out of the mess the defense made.

I think Miami in the 1980s was the last team to beat 4 AP Top 10 teams (at the time of the game) in a single season.

4 AP Top 10 teams (at the time of the game) in a single season.

I think Miami also had the most "pre-season award winners" that should be treasured. Even more so than the actual winners.

Finally, 2 people that answered my question

Nope, only 3 of their opponents were AP Top 10 at the time the game was played (Oregon, Alabama, and Arkansas).
They did, however, beat 8 Top 25 teams that season.

Yea, nobody gives a shite that they beat an average Texas team that happened to be ridiculously overrated
They did at the time frickface

LSU played 4 top ten team (at the time) in 2011.
And All were top 3
And All were top 3

It’s just crazy talk. Not sure why people keep acting like that Texas win was some monumental victory.

8 is alot for top 25. That year was magical until 1/9

Well you have to count Bama twice

this is a fair point. But the problem is that it's hard to quantify that.
Now the dude talking about blueprint, gtfoh
Yeah, the original sentiment is solid, but like you said, quantifying it is impossible. I think LSU beat a better version of Texas than they are now, but I'm not going to act like they're a top team.
