What a difference 24 hours make. Chalk this up to continuing controversy and getting TV ratings. The "Bama is out unless they win" worked before the game to heightened interest and controversy, now the ESPN analytics team suggests it is better go the other route to keep the viewers. This is TOTAL BS and we all know Bama is not deserving. Just passing this along if not done so already.

They shouldn’t be deserving of there are other undefeated teams at the end of the year!!! A 1 loss team doesn’t deserve to be in the playoffs if there are still undefeated teams

Bama was not deserving in 2011. They were not worthy in 2017.

Bama does better if they skip the championship game and gets a second bite at their conference champion in the big game.

Period.

Sec network started this crap right after the game!
This is the official SEC narrative.
It’s all about the cash.

He later clarified:

Not saying at all that they’re going to be put in. Simply agreeing with my colleagues on Gameday who felt Bama would still have an argument. Look at teams 4-5-6-7-8-9 today. They might be left out-simply saying they’ll be in the discussion if they win out.

I suspect they do have an argument — a poor one in my opinion, but it’s not completely implausible. Would much prefer the PAC12/Big12 winner; this will be an interesting test of just how much goodwill Bama has accrued over time.

16 million plus watching the game had the TV execs pushing for a rematch.

The viewer ratings for this game were phenomenal. Marketing drooling for a repeat. Follow the money. Guess what happens. Pull for Auburn, and win out, Tigahs!

The thing I don’t get is how any “neutral” person could watch that game and think, ‘man, I really want to see THAT team get another shot at it.’

Mcleroy has BAMA at #4, but also says that's as high as they could hope to get. He's resigned to seeing them getting jumped. At least that's today's take.

I don't believe Bama will make the playoffs this year. However, if the selection committee puts them in at the end of the season they have to put them up against Ohio State in the first game. Don't care if it is 1v4 or 2v3, it has to be tOSU vs Bama in that first round.

If Bama feels they deserve a shot at this year's championship they have to first play the best team they haven't yet faced this year.

If Oregon wins out, I think the committee puts them in.

One thing to keep in mind.

The state of alabama has the most prolific college football television viewership in the nation and it’s really not close.
Once bama is out of it, they lose millions of viewers

I don’t disagree. They just don’t control their own destiny any more. They can win out and still end up on the outside

If you don’t think it’s an unfair advantage to let one of the 4 playoff teams play one less game than everyone else by sitting out their conference championship, then you’re a fool. It should be a requirement to go to the playoffs.

Want Bama in.

Beating them again is crucial this year.

Hell, I'd be happy if, after we beat them in the playoffs again, the pollsters STILL gave them #2 and we beat them a third time in the Championship!

So there.

Paul said yesterday that if the playoffs were today Bama gets in. but as other teams start winning as the season goes along, Bama will most likely drop.

Well, of course it changes!!! ESPN is going to politick for whatever matchup will bring them the most revenue. It’s called a “business”. No one will tune in to watch OSU dismantle Utah or Minnesota, but they will watch LSU vs Alabama. So, naturally they’re going to change their tune like the wind if they think it’ll provide a better game to sell!!

Gotta love Capitalism!!

If they get in again without winning the SEC it’s time to do away with the championship game. It makes no sense to punish the better team.
