Man, I love musicals but I just could not get into La La Land...
I'd LOVE to get into Emma Stone though

I typically hate musicals and refuse to watch them, but I thought this movie was fantastic. Have seen it multiple times.

Dunno where it ranks for 2010’s but like many others im not huge on musicals but absolutely loved this movie. Especially the main recurring musical theme. That and the cinematography actually blew me away.
I think I remember it was my favorite movie of the year it came out.

I hate musicals, and I think this is probably one of the top 15 movies of the decade.
It's retro yet not. And the second half really isn't even a musical, it's a relationship movie... The final scene is a masterwork of emotion... Should have won the Oscar, easily.

When it comes to musicals I put it just below Anna and the Apocalypse.

Not on it. I hated "La La Land" and I like musicals.

La La Land definitely won't reach my top 20 list - there are just too many better movies though the overall movie quality in the last decade sucks
Just to name a few on the top list
- Inception
- The Social Network
- Boyhood
- Toy Story 3
- Get Out
- Django Unchained
- Interstellar
- Whiplash
- The Revenant
- Spiderman Into the Spiderverse
- Driver
- Joker
- Ex Machina

But LA LA LAND is close to the idea that great art can come from joy. And we need more of that in our lives. We need people raging against the dying light, trying to save jazz that doesn't want to be saved.

Rewatching and had to bump.
La La Land is one of my favorite movies ever. I should disclose I'm a massive jazz fanatic and had no idea the first time I watched that it was going to be such a beautiful ode to jazz music.
The "Epilogue" where they take every song from the movie and combine it into an instrumental.. I can't describe how happy that piece makes me. The final scenes of the movie are so beautiful because of this.
I work in and travel to L.A., and just so happened to be on a plane there when United decided to put it on (I had already seen it) and it ended up inspiring a La La Land solo tour. I hiked to the Hollywood sign by myself with a dead phone And visited several spots from the movie. Didn't get to visit the jazz club, but pre-covid it was still an operating jazz club.
Awesome movie. I don't even like musicals.

Such an ambitious project. Very interesting watch. Filming a movie over the years of the growth of an actual child--it's compelling before you watch the first frame. It's imperfect, but effective.

- Driver
Did you mean Drive, with Gosling? That and Baby driver are to of my favorite "Car movies."

Boyhood is one of if not THE most overrated film of all time. Sorry you saw the concept of it in Full House, The Brady Bunch, and Game of Thrones. I have absolutely no respect for this movie. Remove the gimmick and it’s total shite.
