The government of Mexico filed an amicus (or “friend of the court”) brief urging the Supreme Court to stop President Donald Trump’s attempt to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

quote:

The Mexican government is urging the Supreme Court to protect the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, telling the justices that supporting DACA recipients is an important goal of Mexican foreign policy.

The justices will hear arguments over President Donald Trump’s bid to terminate DACA on Tuesday. Mexico filed an amicus (or “friend of the court”) brief in the case, saying it has a “legitimate, substantial and compelling interest to protect the rights of its citizens.”

quote:

The brief offers an array of policy-based justifications for maintaining DACA. For example, the Mexican government noted that DACA helps its nationals and their U.S.-born children access needed social services.

“DACA recipients are over 12% more likely to ensure that their U.S. citizen children access resources to which U.S. citizens are entitled, such as the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), than parents without DACA protections,” the brief reads, citing a Johns Hopkins study. “WIC is considered one of the most successful anti-poverty programs for children in the United States.”

I thought that these were bright, educated, crime-free kids. Wouldn't it be a blessing for Mexico to have an influx of these types of people?

A President can either rescind a prior EO of a previous President, or he cannot.

The President can either make immutable law, or he cannot.

That's as simple as it gets.

Why is a foreign government openly interfering with our domestic policy agenda?

We'll protect DACA when the rid their country of Cartel terrorism.

In other words, never. Mexico deserves no say in our policies affecting us.

Ok, so you admit they are citizens of Mexico. So Mexico and not the United States should be responsible for their welfare

Here is a pdf of the brief. You guys should read it, so you can formulate your own opinion and not rely on other's to formulate it for you.

I especially love this part:
quote:

From June 2012 to August 2019, the Government of Mexico has invested $2.175 million dollars for Mexican DACA recipients.

If our supreme court gives any weight to another country's foreign policy, particularly to the point of propagating an unacceptable breach of the separation of powers, then those justices who sign on to a majority or dissenting opinion saying so needs to be impeached and removed from the court.

Foreign interference in an American court? Shocked!

Our legislative branch will be moot if Trump (or any future president) isn't allowed to overturn his predecessor's executive orders.

So basically Mexico is telling the US...we’ll never defeat the US through illegal occupation if your legal system fails to cooperate. Lol!

Someone needs to start a list of what foreign influence is acceptable and when it is illegal.

This never should have made it to the Supreme Court in the first place.
