If competitive type gaming and will have 2 monitors, get a 240hz 1080p and get a 4K 60hz later.

I don't plan to use two monitors and if I do it'll just be using my new one and my current 60Hz 1080p if I wanted to attempt streaming or something.

1440p 144hz is better anyway

I got myself an Acer predator monitor recently and regret it. Not even two weeks in and it has two dead pixels. Can't see it lasting long. Not worth the price

Had mine almost 3 years and as good as the day I bought it.

Not better than a 4k 60 for slower games, editing, and movies with a 240hz monitor for shooters

Looking at this one now:
LINK
But I missed any potential Black Friday deals.. looks like Newegg had it for $400.00. Now I play the waiting game.
Honestly I'm back and forth between TN vs IPS...
This looks like a good IPS:

But I am also considering the IPS model of the one posted above (ASUS).

I spent Monday surfing Amazon for a monitor. They had some great deals. I ordered the new 34” Alienware for $850.

34" for gaming? Yikes couldn't imagine I would like that. Constantly moving your head would be tiresome.

Yea that would suck. It's amazing as a secondary monitor tho

You are crazy. I love my 34 ultrawide and will never even think of ever having anything less. How bad is your vision that you think you need to constantly move your head playing on a 34?

Maybe if you want to watch a movie for a game, but playing any remotely competitive game on an ultrawide is aids
This is coming from someone who has an ultrawide

He's also stating the price of the 1080p model. Why would I spend money to go from 60 Hz to 144 Hz and stay at 1080p?

I just bought this on Amazon:
ASUS ROG Swift PG278QR 27" Gaming Monitor 1440p 1ms 165Hz DP HDMI G-SYNC Eye Care
It was $514.82 but Amazon had a $27.13 coupon which brought it down to $487.69. With tax it's $521.83, and I get 5% cash back from Amazon right now with my Discover card so ultimately it'll be $495.74.
I figured I've been using a TN panel this entire time so I rather save the money and go TN again over IPS. It's possible if I could compare the two I would never want to go back to TN, but I don't look at this kind of stuff in stores anymore anyway.

I’m too cheap to move to 1440.

I built my baller arse computer almost a year ago and have been on 1080p 60Hz.. been putting this off too long. It's a crime to use a RTX 2070, i5-9600K with my current monitor. For awhile I was just happy to be able to max everything out but that has passed.

Imo 27" 1440p 144hz is the sweet spot

i always thought a bump in refresh rate was better than a bump in resolution.
