March 6, 2020. Hard Rock Biloxi
Dokken’s back with guitar virtuoso George Lynch
That is....
If they don’t kill each other first.
I won’t miss that show.
What say you?

Don doesn't have it anymore but I'll consider it since Lynch will be back.

Had a chance to meet George lynch in Ruston about ten years ago and watch him do a little personal show for about 20 of us. Was frickin awesome. Had that tiger stripe guitar!

George Lynch doing a private show in Ruston? Please tell us how this actually happened. That would be incredible.

Damn I see Lynch Mob will be opening

I put Lynch right up there with Steve Vai, Ywingie Malmsteem, Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen and Nugent. I also enjoy watching Mick Brown behind the kit. I’ve seen him several times with Dokken and Nugent.

I saw Dokken open for Aerosmith years ago. George is criminally underrated and under-appreciated. I like his KXM stuff with Dug Pinnick and Ray Luzier.

I saw them twice on the Tooth and Nail tour and a couple of times after that. One of my favorites live. I definitely want to see this show.

It was at 3 Docs brewhouse in 2010 when I worked there. The owners were big fans and were pushing the live music a lot and splurged for Lynch.

Here's another cool up-close-and-personal GL story to share.
Dallas vintage guitar show three years ago ... Lynch playing my personal custom ESP strat (he's been an ESP endorser since around '86), that I overhauled and hotrodded even more. I toted it all the way from BR and carried it around the show all day just to get it in his hands, knowing he would be at the show. I got 15 feet from him and he was on his cell phone. In order to get his attention, I simply pulled the guitar out of the case and held it up for him to see. He immediately ended his phone call, walked over and introduced himself, saying "now what do we have here?" I had to retain my inner fanboi.
He took pics of it and sent to his friends at the ESP US custom shop in Hollywood. He told me my fretwork and neck work reminded him of Phil Kubicki's custom work. If you don't know who Phil Kubicki is, basically, one of my absolute guitar idols and heros offered an incredible compliment on my line of guitar work. I about hit the floor. The whole experience still makes the hair stand up on my forearms.
I have a photo from that day on my repair shop's wall, along with the strings "Ruby" was wearing that day. Told you I'm a fanboi.

great story. love that you lugged that mfr around just knowing he would play with it
lynch is one of my favorites, probably top 2 with Marty Friedman. his tone and phrasing are second to none
ETA:
Repair shop, you say? Will be giving you a call shortly.

That’s all about to change as both Dokken and Lynch Mob will be doing standard sets spanning their catalogs from the early 80’s through today with an encore appearance with George back on stage with Dokken to close the show!
That’s how it reads on the Hard Rock site...so it sounds like Lynch isn’t back with Dokken for the show - Lynch Mob will open, then whatever is the current version of Dokken will headline, then Lynch will do a song or a couple with Dokken at the end of the Dokken set?
ETA: Not that it matters much - I’ll still be there.

As a huge Lynch fan, that is a killer story and guitar!

I was disappointed when I found out that Mick Brown retired from performing live with Dokken and possibly from performing live with anybody in July of this year. Looks like Don Dokken May be the only original member left.
