From Riches to rags

Owned Bowie outfitters and Worley corp. Dude had an amazing house out on Ligon Road outside of Zachary.
Greed got the best of him. Now facing 50 years in prison.

quote:

Michael Allen Worley, 57, entered his plea to bank fraud and wire fraud before U.S. District Judge John W. deGravelles. Worley faces up to 50 years in prison and millions in fines and restitution.

If your finances cannot withstand legal scrutiny, filing bankruptcy is a bad idea.

Is this the guy that had a company that did disaster insurance claims. Everyone I knew who worked for this company made bank but were constantly out of state working.

Not hard to understand. He was looking for a lifeline and lied to obtain one. It sounds like he lived beyond his means and stole from the business to keep up his lifestyle.

Orgianlly listed for 9.5 million. I heard the Bank is asking 3.5 now. Its on about 50 acres. At 3.5 million its a pretty good deal. I heard he spent 6 million on house, barn etc.

I came across that house whilst perusing for additional properties to acquire. I passed on it, however, due to it's failure to conform to my taste.

He owned a lot of other stuff too. Private jet, plantation house in Natchez, a couple of magnificent hunting camps, and a lot of agrucultural and timber land. Up to a few months ago he was still going the juggling act trying to keep afloat. Of course it didnt work.

I'm told that this guy was a business partner of Tim Temple who recently last month ran for insurance commissioner against Jim Donelon and lost that race.

So let's file this under bullets dodged.

He sold it before he filed bankruptcy I believe. Don’t know who bought it.

Wolf of Wall Street isn't just a great movie. It can also be a documentary of a cautionary tale too.

Don't live beyond your means and don't frick with the feds and poke dirt in their eyes.

He’s a big ole jughead.

Jim Lewis was a partner in Bowie for awhile. He’s had his own legal troubles too.
