Has Correa?
No he hasn't. This was on MLBTradeRumors on Sept. 5:
quote:
Astros star Carlos Correa is making an unusual switch in representation, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports (Twitterlinks). Correa has parted ways with agent Greg Genske and is now being represented by talent agency William Morris Endeavor. WME is not a baseball agency and does not even have a MLBPA-certified agent at present, although WME agent Jon Rosen is in the process of being certified by the union, Feinsand adds.
WME’s client list includes names like Bobby Flay, Rachel Ray and Al Roker, and Feinsand adds that Rosen represented both Alex Rodriguez and Matt Vasgersian in negotiating their broadcast contracts with ESPN. Jeff Passan of ESPN further reportsthat Rodriguez has been advising Correa on his future, which surely influenced the shift to some degree.

Sign Rendon, not Donaldson.
That would be nice, but I don't think it's financially feasible.

I think he phrased it that “he would prefer to stay under it” or something. It’s going to be really difficult to do. It should only be one year though when you look at what comes off the books after next year.

I'm not sure the Correa agent change means anything.

I'm fine with trading Correa. I don't see him resigning with us and hes got chronic back injuries at age 25. Can't wait for him to miss 2 months the middle of next season

My List:
1) Trade Correa, move Bregs to SS, Bring up Toro to play 3B
2) Lock up Springer
3) Time for Whitley to see what he can do at the major league level
4) If Whitley isn't ready to be a full time starter, see if we can get a SP in the Correa trade
5) See if we can develop James into a 5th starter
6) Resign Harris. Don't overuse him again in the playoffs.

correa is an interesting case. he is so good when healthy. but like, hes never healthy. like he should have insane trade value but he kinda doesnt at this point, i think

That's the thing. It's not not like his injury history is some secret. I don't know that some huge haul exists right now. I think that letting next year play out is the play, and I also think it's what's going to happen.

Maybe we should wait until his stock is higher. His stock is at an all-time low right now.

2020 To-Do List
1. Extend George
2. Replace Cole (suggestions?)
3. Resign Harris and Smith on the cheap
4. Win AL West
5. Break my heart
6. Get Beltran somewhere on the staff

It is if Cole doesn't come back, but ownership would have to suck it up for a year before Reddick and Brantley come off the books.
This is assuming that Springer extends and Correa doesn't.
And it leaves you with no money to spend on a replacement for Cole, so that's a rotation of JV, Greinke, Urquidy, McCullers (if he's back?), and then some combo of Armenteros, Cionel Perez, Whitley.
And this team could really use a decent reliable option at C... Chirinos and Maldy are both FAs, but neither should be too expensive to lock up for 2-3 years.

quote:That too. Rotation depth and better offense could mitigate the loss of Cole.
I'd like to go back to 2017 where our team was carried by the offense.

Damn the off season JUST started and the DAT is already poppin. Yall the shite.
The Astros may not be the champions though, but they are champions in my heart.

Also I have no idea how much Bumgarner would command (I assume a lot) but I would love to go after him honestly.

Wheeler and Odorizzi seem too expensive.
This seems like it could be intriguing to me. His SO/BB numbers aren't bad and he's dealt with multiple injuries. Dude has showed he can be a beast when he's right.

I'd be shocked if the Pirates didnt pick up that option.

Agreed on Archer, unless the Pirates keep him.
There are a lot of interesting names up and down, even if it's something like Cole Hamels on a 2-year deal. \
Kyle Gibson and Tanner Roark seem like guys that could work out on cheaper deals as well.
And there's always the option of bring Miley back. He'll just need a lot more rest through the year to not wear down. Some phantom 10-day DL stints.

Agreed but he has made it clear that he doesnt want to be anywhere outside of New York.

I was counting on the Pirates being cheap and incompetent
