Overpopulation.

As civilizations evolve, birth rates seem to drop. Overpopulation is one of the few things I fear because human nature seems to prune itself on that accord.

Americans could consume half the calories they are consuming and still lead very healthy lives.

There is plenty of food. Heck, 2,000 calories can be had at Taco Bell for $5.

Either one, but social media is the correct answer

Destruction of the traditional family. Everything collaspes after that happens. Birth rate takes a sharp drop and the country has to start importing workers (via open borders) in the form of migrants from third world countries. What follows is pressure on the social network as politicians learn they can promise these folks freebees to get them on the democrat voter rolls.

Our civilization (country) is not killed but we're getting there pretty fast. Donald Trump was our last and best chance to turn this thing around. But the more it goes the more I see the extent of the control of the Deep State and their globalist pals.

Donald Trump and his "America First" stands as a symbol of autonomy and self determination....and the globalist simply cannot allow that to continue.

In their mind.......Donald Trump has to go.

Sol won't stay on the Main Sequence for more than a few billion more years. As it gets closer to turning into a fat-fricking slob its radiation output will cease to be favorable to the current human-habitability zone.

If we don't have human civilization on a planet in another star system within another thousand years or so, humanity is doomed. The big experiment we call sentient life will have failed.

Survival is not an entitlement or a right. It's a reward we'll have to work very hard to achieve.

I bet he was one of the “Americans” that ran off to Syria to join ISIS.

Seriously though, our defense expenditures could be half what they are today if Islamic terrorism didn’t exist. That money could go to space exploration, paying down the national debt, improving our infrastructure, etc. Damn shame.

i would imagine that artificial intelligence is a much bigger threat to completely ending civilization compared to climate change or a shift in the poles.

This, except for some kind of epic nuclear frickening.

It would probably take something from space like a meteor or aliens.

Seems like we have a lot longer than that. Closer to a million.

The Romans beg to differ, what you're describing is an extinction event. I can name many dozens of civilizations off the top of my head that have ended.

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't see the food supply in that bad of shape. I guess in certain parts of the world the food supply is limited, but I thought that was mainly due to poverty.

I think the poster you're quoting is alluding to the "just in time" delivery system that defines the modern grocery experience. Think about it, how much food does the average person actually stockpile at any one time? There's a reason we sit 72 hours from anarchy at all times.

I think you mean anarchy in large urban population centers.

Rural america would be just fine.
