I wouldn’t consider a camp until after maybe after 8th or 9th grade though hitting the weights in a real program is pretty important about now.
And developing football intelligence from watching games focusing on his position and what the best players are doing on various plays.

He's 12... let him do what is fun. The school I went to camp at twice (12 and 13) was not even on my list sr year due to coaching changes. State record holder in my event, had ivy offers for academics, yet UF didn't even make my list.

Nope.
Have to start out as a welder in WI then go to UW SP before getting the call to the big show in Madison.

My 12 yo son has the measurables, he's 6'1" 180 and projected to end up 6'8".
Good luck with that projection.
I was 6'2" at 12 years old and thought I was gonna end up in the NBA.
I'm still 6'2".

every team has that guy when they are 10-12 and playing sports, we had a guy in fifth grade that was fairly athletic but was huge, too big to play 5th or 6th, so his first tackle football team was on the 7th grade team and he was still far and away the biggest guy on the team, they pretty much had one play on offense, give the ball to Bobby, they won every game typically 5-6 TDs to nil, because how could these children block Bobby? a few years ago I was back home visiting at the office of a friend that has a pretty good sized company, well guess who walks into her office to see about a job? Bobby, didn't recognize him immediately but after he started talking and moving around I knew it was him, so we chatted and talked a bit, Bobby was the exact same size as when he was shredding the Pop Warner leagues across town, compared to the average OT size he could almost be called a midget

It was certainly a letdown after being born 24" long, shooting up in a matter of months at 12 only to stay at that height forever.
At least I'm not short.

I think it's just a not so subtle brag by OP, I have a friend that played for LSU, all-SEC, his dad is in Tulane athletic HoF, pretty athletic family, has a son that he could tell was going to have the size and skills to play at least at the college level but he wouldn't let him play football until junior year of high school, kid was a four year starter at TE for Georgia Tech

You are jumping the gun way to much... he hasnt even played the first down yet,and you are talking about a D1 scholarship?? This has to be a troll, the majority of people with the measurable still wont get D1 scholarships.

I took my son to LSU’s camp last summer, and just lied about his graduation date. It’s not really an issue with kickers, but there were some MEN there for other positions...and only a few of them were real prospects. None of the kickers were. You couldn’t tell my soon to be 7th grader from the underclassmen...but that’s kicking.

I’ll bring him this year again, but for the year after he’ll do real kicking competition camps to get recruiting stars.
My boy played 7th grade football this year and there were no size restrictions. Teach him to tackle.

I agree, these days they may, but this was at least 12 years ago, when women were women.
