It is a more compact design. The old terminal was added onto piecemeal, so it was kind of sprawled out. Concourse A was out of service, but still a visible part of the terminal footprint.

Pretty sure one of the requirements to being Mr Baton Rouge is you have to be from Louisiana

Totally unneeded and unnecessary

I thought they were having different entrances for arrivals and departures as well as a route that joins the two.
From that pic it looks like all the traffic comes in and leaves through the same single point (with a traffic circle thrown in because... why not
).

“Past monitoring of 100 of the state’s 300-plus traffic circles revealed these particular intersections, which used to be traffic-signal controlled, experienced a 38 percent drop in car deaths and injuries. At the same time the total number of crashes jumped 12 percent. These additional accidents caused mainly property damage, and are thought to be a result of confused or unprepared drivers trying to navigate the unfamiliar roadway design.“
We now have an answer it was put in to reduce deaths. LOL. Buddy Bart is fixing to eat at the airport.

The following situation certainly doesn't inspire confidence.
quote:
The $1.3 billion project, initially scheduled to be completed by May 2018, has missed four opening dates. The most recent delay came in the spring, when plans to open the terminal had to be pushed back again when it was discovered that drainage pipes had cracked and needed to be fixed.
While crews were dealing with that issue, they also realized that an AT&T utility vault would have to be buried to prevent it from blocking the path of an access road leading to the new facility.
They just noticed that issue recently? Shouldn't that have been noticed during that "planning" stage?

I am still not sure what was wrong with current airport and required a $1B replacement

Ole Baw Mitch Landrieu needed to get a cut of the 1 billion for future political aspirations or to line his pockets.
Or when it is all said and done, and he assumes room temperature, the city decides to rename something or the entire airport with his name.

That's surprising. I thought they were going to hold off until after the runoff on November 16 so voters don't get pissed at John Bel Edwards when the inevitable traffic clusterfrick happens.

Airport has nice curves except for the ugly rectangle parking garage dumped on top of it. Would it have been that hard to give the garage some matching curves?
