Yordan is just missing on some fastballs. He has had some good ABs where he is going deep into the count and looking for a certain pitch. And the contact has been soft. If he starts squaring it up again, look out.
Tucker has struggled to even put the ball in play.

Hard to hit a pitch 10 feet above your head.

We give these dudes a hard time but playoff baseball for young dudes can just be a different animal. Go look at altuve’s 2015 ALDS

Yeah but Altuve has since then was allowed to grow up during full ML seasons. Tucker doesn’t have a ton of that.

With or without a camera that is recording signs?

As first reported by
@martinonyc
, the #Yankees suspected the #Astros used a whistling sound from their dugout in Game 1 of the ALCS as a way to convey signs to hitters. Per sources, MLB investigated and found Astros did not engage in any activities prohibited by MLB policies.

Teams are prohibited from signaling to hitters from the dugout through whistling or other means. MLB had an official in the camera well next to the #Astros’ dugout in G1 and one in the back of the dugout in G2. Neither officials nor umpires heard whistling. #Yankees won G1, 7-0.
Oops.

I sure as frick hope so.
Maybe the vandy whistler was sitting behind the Astros' dugout in game 1.

RUsso on high heat swears Aj is screwing up starting verlander game 5. says he will not be anywhere near as effective in yankee stadium as he is at home. says AJ will have nobody for game 7 should cole win game 6.
i agree it is a risk, but it makes game 5 HUGE.
if the astros somehow win tonight this dude will melt like cheese in a microwave.

I'm not a big Mad Dog fan, but thanks for backing me up, dude.

Yeah, the part I don't get is committing to start JV in Game 5. If you win tonight, why not go with the bullpen game Friday and have your horses lined up at home if needed?

Especially if we win today, have Verlander and cole at home to win 1

ETA: Plus on a super selfish note I'm perfect thus far on my MLB postseason bracket... and in order to win the grand prize I need Astros over Nats in 5, with JV winning the WS MVP. So him potentially pitching games 1 and 5 of the WS would be huge for my chances.

If you win tonight, why not give yourself the best chance to win asap?

I think you have to try to get to G-sweep with a win tonight. Get the rest for WS. I don’t get the need to go commit one way or other already
I would rather be down 3-2 with verlander and cole than bull pen and cole.
Up 3-2, toss the pen at game 6 save cole for 7

Because the asap approach can leave you with Urquidy/bullpen for a potential game 7. Just my opinion.

He seemed very arrogant today. I understand that he’s a NY guy though, so I’m sure that had everything to do with it.

I get that, and I know that's what tLLC is thinking but having the big two lined up at home is safer. I also get that rolling with JV Friday means he can come back Wednesday right behind Cole if they win this series without needing Game 7 Cole.
I'd love to give Pea-quidy a look before the World Series though since they will be needed eventually. Would be easiest if up 3-1.

Hopefully playoff tanaka shows up and the yankees get to greinke.
Yankees let a huge opportunity pass last game by not being able to get a hit with runners on, but the astros seem to be in the same boat. I really hate that we couldnt get to cole when he didnt have his best stuff.
Gonna be tough to win the series if the yankees lose tonight and will have to face verlander and cole in elimination games.

Honestly, I think that this is going to be a wild game with the wind blowing 20 (and higher gusts to 40) to RF which is going to throw everyone off.
I think it’s going to cause different results than what the pitchers are used to in their routines and the bullpens are going to be used earlier than expected.
