In general, who benefits more from marriage, men or women?

If it’s a good marriage, both.

Women.

Expectations are lower for them. Can use a number of excuses to get out of things and the male just has to suck it up and press on.

Marriage is a construct of the patriarchy to keep women subjugated.

Assuming a stereotypical couple:

As individuals, women easily. It offers them financial security and a stable home to seek their strongest natural desire which is to raise children. Women without a home or children would find little satisfaction in work and play. A single man, surrounded by many other single men his age, would have more money and more free time and be happier.

As a society, men benefit more because without marriage there would not be a stable nuclear home for the raising/development of enough young men with good character to join together and actually achieve something. Most of the men would be selfish and cutthroat.

So the answer is both benefit equally.

Why couldn’t the women come together and achieve something?

ETA: J/K. I know why.

Throughout history it's been women by a large margin but with women earning a steadily increasing majority of college degrees and skilled blue collar trades being gradually automated this might be changing. It's definitely trending in that direction today but every prosperous civilization has believed that they were the end of history and the highest purpose of evolution.
Sooner or later they all learned the word hubris.

Nobody. Often, both parties end up angry and miserable.

Parenting is awesome. Marriage is great as long as you have done enough living beforehand.

For me, marriage was a way to retire from partying with friends. Then, having a child was way beyond what I had ever hoped for. I woukd stay with any woman just to be there for this wonderful kid.
