Where is the 12th guy? Is it on the nose? I can't tell if that's a player.

Cheating could also be considered classless

I have no dog in the hunt, but would be embarrassed if the coach at the HS I attended did something like Catholic's coach is doing. Cheating is absolutely classless and if STM and the LHSAA refs were all in cahoots then they can go suck eggs. There are ways to appeal bad officiating and teams getting away with things, calling them out on social media isn't it hoss.

Its obviously being coached. That isnt the debatable thing. The question is, are the refs just incompetent, or something more

If its just incompetence, I dont blame STM's coaches. Its a little shady, but the refs are supposed to call it and honestly the CHS coaches should have noticed as well. If there is more to it, than yeh the coaches and refs should be punished

3 plays in a row with 12 on the field

This is the most likely way to have repeats.

Refs generally don't count the number on the field every play. They count at the start of a drive or after a timeout, then just count how many sub in vs sub out.

So a few plays in a row without a substitute is plausible.

I don’t have a dog in the hunt either, but publicly saying “we know what you’re doing” absolutely works

This is by far the best way to get people talking about a ref crew missing 6+ 12 men on the field infractions

It's inexcusable for the officials to not have seen it. It's also inexcusable for the opposing coaches not to have recognized it and complain.

I would agree with that. And like the Catholic coach said, he or his staff should have seen it too.

But ultimately, those refs are morons.

Yeah how were the coaches not howling about this during the game

You’ve got like a billion assistants or volunteers for big programs like this, tell one of those guys to keep check on this and tell the coach when it’s happening

Fundamentally, the guys in the booth should be looking at defensive alignment every single play...not for 12 men on the field...but to understand what they are working against.

I have no idea how this was missed, except for the fact that the noseguard appears to be 5'5".

The least the LHSAA could do is give Catholic a few more power rating points for going on the road to beat 4A #1 who was playing with 12 guys every big play.

Where is he piling on the kids?

The fact he thinks it's "trendy" inferring the opposing team was cheating on a social media platform? Inferring a team composed of 14-18 year olds cheated in a game you won? Even if his target was the opposing coaches and refs the kids on the opposing team are collateral damage in inferences like this.

What I *think* happened

1. STM ran 12 out there, wasn’t called
2. Coaches didn’t notice OR
3. Said “they didn’t call it, leave them out there”

At least for the 3 consecutive plays I could see that

But, I’m not sure how someone on the D doesn’t notice “hey, someone is in my spot on this formation”

What do you think is going to happen to the kids?

I’ll answer that for you: nothing

He didn’t call any players out specifically

If it just happened on the 3 consecutive plays I would think that is exactly what happened

THe fact it happened an additional 3 times on random other big plays, I absolutely think at some point it was being coached by STM

And I dont think that is cheating. I think it may be called "bush league", but the refs need to call it.

Yeah that’s what makes me lean towards intentional. i should have worded that better

And I think it is cheating if it’s intentional. You are unfairly gaining an advantage

Why isn’t intentionally violating the most fundamental rule of the game cheating?
