What is your take on all of the current theatrics currently going on over the last three years? What exactly will make you vote the way you do in 2020 based on what we know today? You guys are the true deciders of an election in nearly all cases and I'm just wondering what criteria will be considered in casting your vote.

Be prepared for a bunch of leftist, masquerading as independents, to enter with their opinions

People can say whatever they want, but a TRUE independent voter would support this POTUS.

He's the only one who hasn't been living in the swamp for decades...

I'm a swing voter more than anything, don't consider myself independent. After Russia, Kavanaugh, I stopped paying much attention to anything the media and democrats said. After watching Schiff yesterday paraphrase in Congress I'm more embarrassed than anything. I'll continue to support Trump and if this keeps up will no longer pay attention to senate and representatives running, I'll just go R. I am at the point where I don't have much for voting D anymore, there's very few good one's I trust anymore.

ETA: I've been supporting Trump for awhile I should add but I"ve had my Trump bashing on record here and even made many comments over the years in support of some democrats and certain issues I supported Obama on. I do think Trump probably doesn't understand the do's and dont's since he's hasn't been a politician and makes some mistakes but I am supporting him now due to what he's done since he's been in office.

I have never voted Republican in a general election since I've been able to vote. I voted Libertarian in 2004, wrote in Ron Paul in 2008 and voted for Gary Johnson in 2012 and 2016. I will be voting for Trump in 2020.

It has become something I laugh at instead of partaking in. It seems like there is no true discourse from either side. It’s become a dick measuring contest with nobody wanting to “lose”

I’ll never vote Democrat again. They’ve made it obvious that they are completely off the rails. They have zero stance on anything but Let’s all hate Trump.

I think it’s silly and dumb. But I’m not voting democrat or republican either way. So I’m the wrong one to ask.

I am a true registered independent, and the first vote I ever cast was for Donald J Trump. I think he exposed the blatant media bias. I never knew it was so obvious until he took office. I don’t agree with everything Trump says, but I’m 100% behind his aim to put America first. I understand he doesn’t hate immigrants, but he enforces the law that they should come in legally through a process. I don’t think illegal immigrants should have any rights whatsoever to our healthcare, etc.

I can’t stand radical Democrats. Every late night show I accidentally leave on has the comic totally belittling and mocking our president. It’s truly shameful.

Trump is getting it worse than Bush got. The degree to which they want him out lends credibility to the Deep State stuff.

It is destroying the media but also hurting the Republican Party a lot. Both deserve it.

Our household treasury has benefitted greatly from the tax cuts. And, largely support reasonable immigration policies and taking on Chinese ip theft. Also pleased at efforts to get out of middle East. Do not want a radical left president, although not opposed to asking the billionaires to write checks once a year.

Hard to square this with an individual that based on actions, has the emotional maturity of a middle school girl. Or worse, shows signs of being a narcissist sociopath. Manages the office of the president like a new York mobster. Like the policy positions very much dislike the person.

I would consider myself independent. I got tired of the Russia stuff as they just got bogged down in something that didn’t have enough there to truly support that much outrage. I can understand that before the report came out. After that, they should have simmered down.

As far as what’s going on now, I read the transcript of the call and didn’t think it was as bad as they made it out to be. I didn’t like him asking about Biden, but it wasn’t a smoking gun. The whistleblower complaint is another issue. If the issues in the complaint are true, and that’s a big if right now and is something that has to be investigated, then I have real concerns about the fact they moved the report of the call from the normal place it would be stored to somewhere else that is locked down as that shows they felt guilt about the call and that maybe I misunderstood the intent of the call.

Lastly, I will have major issues if the White House stonewalls the investigation and refuses to cooperate as I believe Congress has a right to oversight. In the end though, I believe they have to have more than just the overview of the call though as that’s not enough in my mind.

I am maybe an independent, I don’t really just love either party, but the older I get the more I’ve traveled from left to center. I think everyone has a little hypocrite in them and for sure both parties have hypocritical stances but the current left takes it to a whole new level. I get dumbfounded by both parties thinking I should give a shite about one side doing something but not give a shite when the other side does something similarly crappy.

Since Trump took office I certainly haven’t moved back to the left. I’m not his biggest fan but I am 100% anti-socialism which is seemingly pretty much the bulk of the dems now,

The most ridiculous shite I've seen in my lifetime. Democrats are apeshit crazy.

I doubt I will vote in the presidential election, doesn't matter...Trump will carry the State.

You can hear the independent voters in public and while meeting with other people. I’ve listened to them without interjecting much

There was concern with the Mueller report. In the aftermath, they have became way more skeptical of following claims and resulting nothingness. Now the claims are resulting in them getting tired of it and numbness to it.

And they are also pretty happy with the economy in which everyone feels even if they don’t follow the news closely. And the Dems must be hearing the same thing and that is why “recession” was being pushed so hard just in the past month.

Those are my observations.

The Dem base trying so hard to believe every scrap of innuendo they are fed has been almost comical to watch while at the same time the tRumpkins complete abandonment of principle has been somewhat disappointing to see.

Whomever has an actual plan to sort some of our nations ills and is the most honest liar will get my vote in 2020.

At this point no declared candidate fits the bill so I will probably just drink myself to oblivion on election day.

I became an Independent back in 2004. Couldn't stand the thought of having an R next to my name anymore after the Patriot act and the overreach into the personal lives of Americans under the guise of "safety".

Imagine my surprise when Obama gets elected and continues to use the Patriot act.

No change came.

These days, the Democrats have turned into a caricature of themselves.

I find it hilarious that Trump frustrates them and they fumble so damn much. They bring it on themselves.

The only Democrat I'd vote for in the presidential election is Tulsi. But she's getting railroaded by the DNC, so expect another puppet on the ticket in 2020. It definitely won't be a principled Democrat.

I see a huge 2020 victory for Trump. Dems can't handle Trump honestly. That's why they keep making shite up to try to impeach him.

The part the Democrats don't understand is attempting to impeach Trump only will make his base stronger.

They only need to look at how much Clinton is revered by the left to understand this.

But they won't and they kill their 2020 chances by being shortsighted.

Further, they've made me feel bad about a guy (Trump) who I shouldn't feel bad about with all the bullshite they pull.

I'm not the only one.

Throughout my 30 year voting history, I have voted GOP probably 90 or 95% of the time. I originally considered myself a Republican, but (as the kabuki theater in Washington has become increasingly ridiculous over the decades) I have become more likely to describe myself as a Republican-leaning libertarian and more inclined to vote LPA in the occasional race. This was essentially a protest vote (the LPA is a joke, for different reasons) in a state that was solidly-Red and unlikely to elect a Dem, regardless of my vote.

The behavior of both parties over the past three years has increased my disgust with the two party system and made it far more likely that I will vote LPA in almost ALL races that the GOP cannot conceivably lose. I will still vote GOP over the Dem in almost any close races.

The sole historical exception has been the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, where I see too many “law and order” Republicans as being far too inclined to trample the civil liberties of criminal defendants. In those races, I have split my votes probably about 50:50 for the last twenty years or so. Ironically, the GOP seems to be running fewer “law and order” ideologues for this Court, and I will probably vote for fewer Dems in those races.

Lastly, I cannot imagine the Dem candidate who would be bad enough to EVER induce me to cast a vote for Dan Patrick.

TLDNR. The last three years just demonstrate the continuing devolution that has been taking place in politics for decades.
