A gem of a movie that was directed by Paul Greengrass. Still remains the definitive movie about 9/11. The ending still gets me every time.

Let's roll.

All of those passengers on that plane are all fricking heros in my book.

The last few minutes is one of the most intense, heart wrenching scenes ever caught on film

I actually watched this movie for the first time last night. It was much better than what I was expecting. The coverage of the air traffic controllers was remarkable.

I'll always remember how silent the theater was after the screen went black. Everyone sat there for a second, then just got up and walked out.

I saw it in theaters back in the day. Even tho you know it’s a fake movie, you feel so emotional after seeing it.

I actually appreciate how it mentions that some of the passengers wanted to do nothing for a while and let it all play out. Only after they heard what had happened to the other planes did they realize they needed to act.

People forget how regular plane hijackings in the 60s and 70s were. I'm no expert on the subject matter but if I understand usually the hijacker would hijack the plane, make some demand (release of a political prisoner or something), and land the plane and was either arrested immediately or tried to slip custody. I know I'm way oversimplifying that but I believe that's what it used to be like more less.

So it made sense for the the passengers on United 93 - and the passengers on other 3 planes - to kind of sit there and let the hijacking play out for a while. No one had seen or heard of using commercial airlines as a weapon like that.

Anyway, I'm glad that was a point they highlighted in the movie.

Damn that was pretty intense.
Last night we watched a different version.
It was more like the Hallmark version with overly dramatic acting.

This looked far better.

I have a harder time watching them actually hijack the plane and murder the pilots and the flight attendant. Especially the part where the lead hijacker tells the muscle hijacker that they don't need the flight attendant they're holding so the muscle hijacker says some kind of prayer and slits her throat.

So many people were crying in the theater during the final scene. I felt it was especially powerful because all of the screaming fades out as the music swells and the ground rushes up to meet the plane. Of course we'll never know exactly how it went down, but those people fought for their lives and they deserve to be remembered for their bravery.

great movie. but, the credits give away the fact that we probably shot it down. notice how they want to tell you this and that about how we couldn't. nice little diversion.
