From the perspective of fans who were there at the game, how did DKR match up to other away games in SEC stadiums you have been to in terms of loudness and difficulty playing in that stadium?

It was a lot like Alabama. Loud but not crazy. Kind of a wine and cheese loud.

It wasn't nearly as loud as I thought it should be for 100k fans and I was in the lower bowl

The sound must escape out of the end of the horseshoe.

Auburn and Florida are much louder.

I wasnt impressed at all with the stadium.. i think most people would admit that Austin is a much, much better city than Baton Rouge.. but in terms of the campus, it isn’t nearly as nice as LSU, and it doesn’t help that it’s smack dab int he middle of the city.. and while I haven’t been to a ton of away games, i didnt think their stadium was anything special at all.. just kinda generic and bland.. then again, i was seated up near the surface of the sun, next to the band... i just think that Tiger Stadium has spoiled us all for what a venue, and experience, should look and feel like.

I believe all the SEC venues have a/c in the visitors locker room so there’s that

It was honestly the lamest gameday crowd I have ever seen at a top 10 match up. The crowd got loud, at times, but was kind of disinterested.

The stadium was nothing special. It was nice, but it lacked ... something.

The atmosphere outside the stadium and around campus was lame as hell. Worse than any SEC school I have been to except maybe Vandy. Everything was prepackaged and corporate, like that lame arse stuff Alleva started by Patrick F Taylor.

Some of the loudest the fans got was booing hurt LSU players, I would say it would be around 5th or 6th loudest SEC stadium.

Am confused by the people critiquing the atmosphere in game. The around stadium situation is terrible, that's true. But from where we were sitting lower bowl endzone it was very loud at times. The Texas fans around us were super engaged. They didn't sit down for one play. Yeah, its a bit wine and cheese. There were no fights. It wasn't Tiger Stadium or Jordan Hare. But I thought the in game experience was not too dissimilar from our game against Georgia in 2013. Much louder than Ole Miss or SC.

Absolutely true. I was in the concession area a few times and could not tell who made the play by the crowd reaction. Sad

The loudest it got was probably on par or worse than Little Rock was. Maybe on the level of Kentucky. Maybe.

USC
Bama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Ole Miss
Cowbell
Tenn

All of those were much more impressive game atmospheres.

Solid take. For how small Miss State is, those cow bells are pretty loud. Glad that's not a tradition at Texas. Cant imagine how annoying 90,000 people shaking cowbells would be.

The pipes in music was super shitty.

They would blare it and before a single fan would start cheering the “decibel meter” was at 103

I wasn't there, but you can't compare Saturday Night to all other SEC Stadiums on any given Saturday. The fact is, Saturday Night was the biggest home game at DKR in more than a decade (by their own admission). Consequently, you had a home crowd that was as rowdy and loud as it is ever going to get in that stadium. To compare Apples to Apples you need to compare that Texas crowd to the most jacked-up crowd in a decade at an SEC Stadium.

My guess is that Texas was probably similar to any of the big SEC stadiums on a random Saturday night.

It’s like being at a nice NFL venue. Visually pleasing. High class venue with top notch amentities. It’s not loud and shouldn’t be compared to other top notch venues in the SEC. They have a great product. The stadium was rocking during the INT and the long 4th down TD they made. They have a good product. It isn’t an intimidating place to play but It is a very solid venue.

It’s like a much bigger version of Mississippi State. The stadium is not closed off which makes it less loud. The field is too far away from the stands compared to other SEC venues.
