It was stated on the SEC rant that Cam Newton is... Which of course is hilarious, so where does he rank and who fits the dual threat definition?

Off the top of my head, we know that Steve Young and Russell Wilson are both better.

Elway? Was he considered dual threat?

Aaron Rodgers?

I also find it hilarious when people have to say "greatest dual threat QB" because they know that Cam is not in the same league as the true greatest quarterbacks in history

if Mike Vick got to play in these Spread Option, RPO, and spread offenses you see in the modern NFL he'd be silly

these things simplify the game and are tailor-made for guys like him

If we are going purely on talent and excitement. Its Mike Vick, and nobody but.

ETA: This thread sucks

in the offenses he had to play in. simplify the game and give him easier throws and you likely see a major increase in completion rate

just like we've seen the entire league's completion rate skyrocket since the late 90s/early 00s

So Steve Young is the answer. He was an elite passer unlike Newton or especially Vick.

running for his life behind that Falcons line

just looked it up real quick, in 2006 his O-line had a total of 1 Pro Bowl appearance between 8 guys, and that was in 2010

ETA: 2006 was his 1,000 Yard Season,

Steve Young retired as the highest rated passer in NFL history in addition to being an absolutely lethal runner

I dtn't disagree that he would be much improved, I just don't think he'd be elite

Roger Staubach deserves an honorable mention. His best rushing days were behind him by the time he was a full time starter at 29/30 years old.
