Have you ever made a mistake in sports that haunts you?

Did you ever make an error or mistake playing baseball, basketball, or football that you won't forget?
I can still remember 23 years ago getting put in 2 pitch when the pitcher in front of me left the bases loaded. I threw a curveball on the first pitch to a home run hitter and he hit a grand slam. We lost the game and it decided the conference championship. 3 of the runs weren't mine, but.... Still sucks

One time I put a ball in the water hazard, but instead of taking a drop, I kept hitting it until I got on the green. I didn't win the tournament, but I gained my dignity back. Also bagged a fine arse woman.

Not a mistake but I hit a walk off single in middle school baseball. The highlight of my athletic career

Was being lazy behind the plate and beamed the batter square in the side of his face. Fractured one of his facial bones and caused him to miss the last 3 games of his senior year. Feel pretty awful about it to this day.

I made a late hit that cost us 15 yards. It wasn't dirty or anything, I just dove on top of the ballcarrier who was already down. To this day I still don't know why. It was embarassing as hell. The coaches chewed me out on the sidelines while my parents were watching from the stands.

No one's going to remember the tournament 10 years from now, who won...but they'll remember your 12!

I was on Eric Berthelot’s team at Skip Bertman’s Baseball Camp in 1994 and I booted a ball at third that cost us a spot in the championship.
No one really talked sh*t but I could tell they were disappointed.

Playing first base in a coed rec game. Make an amazing play on a ground ball and tag first. Spin. Blindly throw ball to second. I hit a 30 year old woman dead in the shoulder blade and destroyed her.
I have never played again

As a player, not that I recall... but one bonehead play as a coach.
Was coaching 3rd, runner on second, one out. Next up grounded one to the right side, easy out at first and advanced the runner to 3rd... except I completely missed that the first baseman dropped the throw. Next up hit a deep fly and I told the runner to run on anything thinking the out at first was made. Easy double play on the runner that didn't tag and we lost by one. Still don't know how I missed the safe call at first, guess I assumed the routine play.

Like “accidentally” walking into the cheerleaders locker room while they were changing and showering....and not sticking around longer? Kills me every time I think about it.

When I was 11 I was quite the hothead. Tried to throw at the batter on another team, airmailed him and everyone else. Run scored from 2nd. Never did that again

Was jumping out of bounds to throw the basketball back in play, jumped , grabbed the ball and while turning threw it as hard as I could back onto the court, defender was right on me and I broke his nose. Part of the game and no bad intent on my part, but, still bothers me I was the reason for that.

Senior year football, playing crosstown rival for district championship, up by less than 6. They driving but we get them to a 4th and short around the 20. Deep in 4Q...like 3 minutes left. I jump offsides on the hard count, giving them first down. Ultimately score, we lose.

I bet Clemson to beat Bama in 2016 and this year
It haunts me because I’m not supposed to do that
