WiFi and Cellular service around stadium

Tailgating before the game, I was hoping to stream ESPN and watch a little football during tailgating and I was wondering how the service is in and around the stadium. We're in lot 404. Is wifi available or would I have to stream with my cellular data? Any bottlenecks?

Depends on the carrier.

Ohio State just installed WiFi for their stadium for a better game day experience. Upfront costs were 19 million. From what I understand it will be limited bandwidth designed to let people text and post photos. No streaming.

It all depends on how many people are on campus. I’ve had luck in the past before noon. Once campus gets crowded, you’re fricked. You better have an antenna as a backup plan.

Doesn’t matter. There isn’t enough bandwidth to accommodate 100K plus people. Verizon has more cellular density coverage at TS on game day than any other place in the country and still can’t handle the load.

What if I told you for the SB in Minn, we installed a CRAN environment for TMO that handled traffic with little to no issues.
In fact, that project grabbed us a nice contract with TMO.

How much you want to bet they will start to charge for WIFI at stadiums in the very near future, $10 for day basic plan (no streaming) and $20 for streaming.

All cellular connections inside the stadium are facilitated by Goodman Networks. They manage the DAS and sell access to the carriers.
Unfortunately Goodman networks suck major arse and thus a multimillion dollar DAS withers on the vine
LSU is exploring public wifi across campus but that is a few years away from happening.

The plan for most college athletics wifi systems is to provide free access after a user signs up. The institution then collects all online behavior and uses it for targetted marketing
Example:
Fan tweets: "Another FB season down the toilet, can't wait for BB!"
School: Places ads and emails to the fan advertising season tickets

We tailgate just off campus, near W. Lakeshore & Cornell. Prior to and after the game, internet usage on Verizon is really not possible. I've tried many times with no success.

Never heard of them. I work for Nokia.
TMO has a DAS but like most, they are integrated cards for low power applications.
DAS, in general, is more antiquated for capacity, which I can see why their are issues near Tiger Stadium.

I'm confused, are you trying to use a smart TV or something? Or wanting to watch TV on your phone at a tailgate?
If it's your tailgate, just get a cheap flat screen and satellite/antenna.
